We have a shortlist of boys names I am interested in your opinions i.e. How popular in your area, initial reaction etc..

First names:
Henry
Edward
Rory
Hamish

Middle name is likely to be Laurence or William. Our surname begins with C.

I like them all, not very popular here, I know a wee Rhuaridh.

Rory and Hamish my favourites, both go nicely with William. :)

My ds1 is called Henry and there are two others as well as him in his room at nursery. I also know two Rory's, but no Edward's or Hamish's! Smile

They sound classic to me rather than 'popular'. Actually there are a few Henrys here having said that. I'd list your list in order of preference...
Edward
Rory
Henry
Hamish

hamish is cute but 'posh' to me (nowt wrong with that though!)

Lawrence is gorgeous as a middle name but both middles go with all your first name choices.

In order of preference for me:
Rory (I might be biased Wink)
Henry
Edward
Hamish

Rory is the only one at all popular here, with Edward next - we are in Ireland.

My order of preference would be:
Hamish
Edward
Henry
Rory

I'd love to use Hamish, but it's already taken in our group of friends!

I love Henry, wanted it for ds2 but dh said no because it's the name of our vacuum cleaner Hmm

Don't like any of the others, sorry.

Henry = trying to be posh, too many of them
Edward = nice traditional name
Rory = nice name but very Irish so a bit odd if you're not
Hamish = nice and more unusual but very Scottish so a bit odd if you're not

HTH

I know a few Henry's and Edward's but no Rory's or Hamish's.

I like them all, probably Henry the most and Hamish the least (I think Hamish might be a bit weird if you had no Scottish links).

I like them all except for Henry (there is nothing wrong with it though)

They are all really popular where I live.

I like them all except HamIsh. Dses are teens so not sure how popular they are in younger boys, but they have lots of friends called Henry and Edward. Rory, not so much.

Edward Laurence or Henry Laurence would be nice, as would Hamish William. Don't like Rory at all.
