Using DH middle name for son

Hi all, just wondered what people thought about using my dh's middle name for our son, due in March. We are really strjuggling for boys names, I love his middle name, I kind of feel like he doesn't use it so why can't we?!

Its Nathaniel by the way, I like the nickname Nate, he insists they would get called Nat, which I don't mind either, but he compares to gnat...
I kind of see why he might be a bit weird about it, I'm in two minds, we have ages to go but I tend to veto lots of names as I teach boys! 150 odd names a year for 10 years of teaching tends to leave associations!

My DS is called DP's middle name.

So's mine. I don't think the middle name thing is at all important. It's whether you agree on the name generally.

We did this. It never gets commented on in a negative way and ds loves that he has his daddy's name.

My dd's Middle name is my first name.

I know someone who has 3 given names. He also has 3 sons; they are each called one of his names.

Thanks guys, guess I will keep working on Dh! Told him it probably should be up to me in the end seeing as I'm pushing something as painful as a pineapple out of my fanjo..hopefully he will agree!

I want to use DH name for this babies middle name if it's a boy but he has vetoed because it's 'his' name. The tribute is lost on him!!

I'm another whose DS has DH's middle name as his first name, was going to be his middle name, but when he was born it seemed to suit him better than the first name we'd picked, so we flipped them around.

We also have dh's middle name as Ds's first name. I'd always loved it and it had always been our theoretical baby name. We took a list of about 15 names to hospital when he was born but it was the only one that seemed right to both of us.

DD has my middle name as her name. I was so relieved we'd found a name we agreed on that the link didn't really occur to me. I think about 5 people other than family know about the link.

I am not keen on Nathaniel.

But the fact that it was OH's middle name wouldn't matter a jot if that was what we wanted to call him. I think your OH should see it as an honour, and your DS will love having one of daddy's names.

Thanks all, that's great. I am sure we will change our minds, didn't name Dd till the last minute but I would just like to have one name we agree on!
Is it only leeds that isn't keen on Nathaniel? Have to say my only misgiving is I'm not keen in nickname Nathan...although strictly speaking I don't know if it is a nn.

I think it's nice to use daddy's name. I also know a Nathaniel who I always assumed was Nate as that's all if ever heard him called, I only found out recently that he's actually Nathaniel, I've known him since he was under 1 and he's now 4! Blush
Lovely name in my opinion
