3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole Mon 03-Nov-14 20:41:17

Love it would nn hattie

madammoose Mon 03-Nov-14 20:44:54

Fabulous name. Positive connotations for me from reading or being read a book in childhood about a Harriet who had fun and did stuff.

BlueStarsAtNight Mon 03-Nov-14 20:45:20

I love it too, it's on my list. I'm just not 100% on Hattie, as I knew one I didn't like. I prefer Hettie but not sure I could make it stick.

Harriet the spy

MsKittyKat123 Mon 03-Nov-14 22:24:56

I love the name Harriet and adore the nn Hattie even more

LemonBreeland Mon 03-Nov-14 22:30:55

I'm not crazy about Harriet but I love the nn Hattie.

PragmaticWench Mon 03-Nov-14 22:34:19

DS is two weeks old but would have been Harriet if he'd been a DD. Love it.

SurfsUp1 Mon 03-Nov-14 22:48:09

BlueStar could you go for Harry as a nn? Boys names as nn for girls seems to be quite popular and can be rather cute.

Ye110w Mon 03-Nov-14 22:57:43

I think it's a very unattractive sound.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Tue 04-Nov-14 00:48:59

Beautiful elegant and pretty name. Love Hattie as well.
Congratulations btw.

SurfsUp1 Tue 04-Nov-14 01:48:47

It's one of our top contenders for DD due in March.

I think it's a lovely name but it really has to go with your surname.

Riverland Tue 04-Nov-14 02:00:13

Harri or Ettie are great nn's.

SnoringNorma Tue 04-Nov-14 02:55:16

I love it... as long as your surname isn't Abun!

TheGirlAtTheRockShow Tue 04-Nov-14 08:25:40

Love it. Is friends DD and she is gorgeous. Love nn Hattie.

SoftSheen Tue 04-Nov-14 08:32:54

Great name. No need for abbreviation- beautiful as it is.

lebkuchenlover Tue 04-Nov-14 08:38:34

I find it rather harsh and unfeminine sounding, sorry.

squoosh Tue 04-Nov-14 10:34:30

I think it's such an ugly name. Its current popularity truly baffles me.

StopBarking Tue 04-Nov-14 18:01:08

Same here. It honestly reminds me of hairy toilet. A cross between the two.

What about Juliet
Similar style but a nicer sound

lebkuchenlover Wed 05-Nov-14 15:59:36

Hairy toilet grin shock!

I agree that Juliet, Violet or Annette are much nicer than Harriet.

DecaffTastesWeird Wed 05-Nov-14 16:11:15

I love Harriet.
