Me: what do you think we should call your new baby sister?
DS (9): (unhesitatingly) Canada.
Me: why???
DS: because she'll never get teased; nearly EVERYONE likes Canada.

So what would your DCs call their new sibling given half a chance?

WowserBooooooooooooser Wed 29-Oct-14 12:15:32

Well that's true. Who doesn't like Canada? grin

What about calling her Ice Cream?

moxon Wed 29-Oct-14 12:54:20

Oh Canada oh Canada!

curiousgeorgie Wed 29-Oct-14 13:01:07

(Pre Frozen amazingly!)

GilbertBlytheWouldGetBit Wed 29-Oct-14 13:05:14

DD wanted to call her new baby brother "BEEF MELON" confused grin

squoosh Wed 29-Oct-14 13:09:45

I'd pick North Korea. Yes it's a bit divisive but it would make more of an impact than dull old Canada.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetBit Wed 29-Oct-14 13:14:23

People would think you were a fan of Kanye West though. What about Grand Canyon? I think that's a pretty taunt-proof name right there.

moxon Wed 29-Oct-14 13:23:47

Beef Melon is just grand. Prime Minister material.

squoosh Wed 29-Oct-14 13:25:40

Beef Melon is a good bold name. Round and meaty, like many babies.

MooseBeTimeForSnow Wed 29-Oct-14 13:36:50

As the land I inhabit, I can say that Canada is not dull!

There was a family a while ago in my local paper where the mum had got pregnant unexpectedly. She had older children and asked the children what they thought and what the baby should be called. In true teenager style they replied 'cool'. So Cool it is. I think he must be about 10 now.

squoosh Wed 29-Oct-14 13:41:04

'Dull' was the wrong word. I should have said 'too stable'.

Kittykatmacbill Wed 29-Oct-14 14:47:24

My DA (aged under 2) wanted to call my DM 'Bum', but was convinced that 'Bomb' would be more suitable...

darlingfascistbullyboy Wed 29-Oct-14 14:59:16

dc1 (then 11yo) wanted to call dc4 Asterix because she thought it would be funny hmm She was the first to suggest the name we would end up using for dc3 though (Penelope).

bexibean Wed 29-Oct-14 19:04:55

A girl would be CeeCee and a boy Fark according to our three year old. Who is sure it's a boy. Fark is the word that Daddy says when all the Rice Krispies end up on the floor.

bexibean Wed 29-Oct-14 19:05:57

Anyone else think Asterix could be the new Atticus?

scarevola Wed 29-Oct-14 19:08:37

Canada would have siblings Cinnamon and Asa/Acer/Maple?

fishfingerSarnies Wed 29-Oct-14 23:18:47

My dd so far has suggested; her own name, Monkey, our dogs name and baby. Not that imaginative.

stargirl1701 Wed 29-Oct-14 23:22:15

DD1 wanted to call DD2 Baby Banana.

SpookyGoingsOnOnTheLandscape Wed 29-Oct-14 23:23:54

Superbaby was the name that the DCs picked out for a younger sibling.

ScreamingSmegs Wed 29-Oct-14 23:28:44

DD1 wanted to call DD2 Rabbit. She has lots of bunny toys. Every single one of them is called Rabbit.

She swore we wouldn't get confused but we didn't believe her.

TheCheeseAlarm Wed 29-Oct-14 23:29:27

DS1 wanted to call DS2 Manchester or Risotto. He suggested Robert for a friend's DD.

SnoringNorma Thu 30-Oct-14 02:05:38

My niece wanted to call her new baby Asda grin

HerRoyalNotness Thu 30-Oct-14 03:25:36

DS1 wanted to call his baby sister, Sparkle! DS2 more sensibly, Lucy, which we almost went with

HerRoyalNotness Thu 30-Oct-14 03:27:15
