Opinions? I don't mind the association with the nintendo game, i actually quite like it!

Sorry, I though you were asking for a link. If you mean 'Link' as a name, then I think that could actually be the problem. Also, teasing 'are you the missing link' etc.

I don't like it personally and wasn't even aware of the Nintendo association.

Christen him Lincoln, call him Link.

Link on its own is a bit Mills & Boon.

Lincoln nn Linc is a bit cool.

Possibly better as a middle name, assuming The Missing isn't his first name. It's just, well, implausible as a name. Like you picked your favourite noun and went with it. I'd be waiting for you to introduce his brothers Shelf and Fork.

RiverTam · 01/09/2014 17:12

it's not a name, it's a word.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/09/2014 17:14

It isn't a word I see as being a name.

Bowlersarm · 01/09/2014 17:16

Don't like just Link.

Think it's only acceptable as short for Lincoln.

Awful.
I don't like names that are 'things'..... can just get away with so0me flower names, but Link? - No.

I like it! I've seen quite a few unusual names come through school and Link is one of the least presumptuous ones. It doesn't indicate a personality Type to me.

If you like it, use it. It'll only have that raised eyebrows effect on the first mention, then it'll just be Link's name.

Oh, and regarding "missing link" jokes, I always think people pick on others for any reason at all. If it's not a name, it'll be something else. At least a name can be either blamed on parents or changed.

I think it's cool! But then I Envy Legend of Zelda.
DH says it's weird.

Link? As in sausages?

It sounds more like a nick name than an actual name.

I think it's just too much used in the computing context- "could you send me the link?"

And I think that nobody would be able to resist the "missing" or "chain" or "of London" comments and it would be very, very tedious for him having to hear them all the time for the rest of his life.
