Jasper?

Does it make you think of a cat?

No but it does sound a bit pretentious.

TBH it reminds me of a gorgeous red setter I knew when I was growing up. He always used to run up & greet me when I walked past.

BUT if you love the name, sod what anyone else thinks.

You think pesto? Oh no. Pretentious is not what I want to go for either :/

Well I didn't mean to be offensive, sorry. It's just that I can only hear it being said in a really posh accent, like - Jaaa-spa afar Grin

I do actually quite like it!

I love it! I've always like it; hope Twilight hasn't ruined it.

Jasper is the dog from Rebecca (my favourite book/film).

So, to me, it is a doggy name. And also quite pretentious.

scarletforya · 16/06/2014 19:29

I really hate it. Sorry. Reminds me of a court jester.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 16/06/2014 19:29

Wow I didn't realise nn was jazz! This makes me love it furthermore :)

Oh goodness ... What has Jasper got to do with Twilight dare I ask? (This could ruin it for me :( )

There are quite a few little Jaspers round here, and they are from very average/non posh families.

Despite that my own prejudice is that it is a bit posh and even a bit wet as names go.

HicDraconis · 16/06/2014 19:35

Makes me think of Carrott :)

It's a semiprecious stone, it's a great name.

Report
insancerre · 16/06/2014 19:35

We had a rabbit called Jasper
And jazz is a car or a slang term for semen

Report
Delphiniumsblue · 16/06/2014 19:35

Yes- definitely a cat.

I love it. It is my favourite. Makes me think of Jasper Tudor.

However my dp insists it is slang for wasp in Southern England and has refused to even consider it bastard.

RiverTam · 16/06/2014 19:36

I quite like it but a woman at work today said it was a cat's name! We were all a bit puzzled, but I guess she's not alone as you're asking the question!

Jasper is a vampire in Twilight op, doesn't do anything particularly good or bad.
