Does it make you think of a cat?

PestoSurfissimos Mon 16-Jun-14 19:00:41

No but it does sound a bit pretentious.

iklboo Mon 16-Jun-14 19:01:34

TBH it reminds me of a gorgeous red setter I knew when I was growing up. He always used to run up & greet me when I walked past.

BUT if you love the name, sod what anyone else thinks.

KeepOnPloddingOn Mon 16-Jun-14 19:06:08

You think pesto? Oh no. Pretentious is not what I want to go for either :/

PestoSurfissimos Mon 16-Jun-14 19:10:58

Well I didn't mean to be offensive, sorry. It's just that I can only hear it being said in a really posh accent, like - Jaaa-spa afar grin

I do actually quite like it!

KeepOnPloddingOn Mon 16-Jun-14 19:21:09

I am not offended, please dont apologise. It is a bit posh i s'pose!

Thanks for being honest smile

HopefulHamster Mon 16-Jun-14 19:21:27

I quite like it, have only known a little boy with the name, no pets smile

KeepOnPloddingOn Mon 16-Jun-14 19:26:11

Yaya! Thanks hopeful... smile

CheerfulYank Mon 16-Jun-14 19:27:33

I love it! I've always like it; hope Twilight hasn't ruined it.

Chillycamper Mon 16-Jun-14 19:27:47

I know a couple of Jasper nn Jazz. Lovely lads.
I like it

SantasLittleMonkeyButler Mon 16-Jun-14 19:28:40

Jasper is the dog from Rebecca (my favourite book/film).

So, to me, it is a doggy name. And also quite pretentious.

scarletforya Mon 16-Jun-14 19:29:09

I really hate it. Sorry. Reminds me of a court jester.

KeepOnPloddingOn Mon 16-Jun-14 19:29:25

Wow I didn't realise nn was jazz! This makes me love it furthermore smile

Oh goodness ... What has Jasper got to do with Twilight dare I ask? (This could ruin it for me sad )

Littlestar3432 Mon 16-Jun-14 19:29:27

Really nice. Doesn't make me think of a cat at all x

KeepOnPloddingOn Mon 16-Jun-14 19:30:39

A court jester? Whaaaat? lol

Kantha Mon 16-Jun-14 19:31:43

There are quite a few little Jaspers round here, and they are from very average/non posh families.

Despite that my own prejudice is that it is a bit posh and even a bit wet as names go.

Kveta Mon 16-Jun-14 19:33:08

lovely name smile

Lollipop11 Mon 16-Jun-14 19:34:14

I LOVE it !!!

KeepOnPloddingOn Mon 16-Jun-14 19:34:42

I am not posh. We do have a double barraled last name though... :/

DitzyDonkey Mon 16-Jun-14 19:35:04

I much prefer Caspar.....infinitely cooler!!

HicDraconis Mon 16-Jun-14 19:35:36

Makes me think of Carrott smile

It's a semiprecious stone, it's a great name.

insancerre Mon 16-Jun-14 19:35:51

We had a rabbit called Jasper
And jazz is a car or a slang term for semen

Delphiniumsblue Mon 16-Jun-14 19:35:51

Yes- definitely a cat.

Alisvolatpropiis Mon 16-Jun-14 19:35:59

I love it. It is my favourite. Makes me think of Jasper Tudor.

However my dp insists it is slang for wasp in Southern England and has refused to even consider it bastard.

RiverTam Mon 16-Jun-14 19:36:28

I quite like it but a woman at work today said it was a cat's name! We were all a bit puzzled, but I guess she's not alone as you're asking the question!
