What I found more interesting was the article www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/shortcuts/2014/may/12/noah-wyle-flood-baby-most-popular-boys-name-us on why names become popular they used Noah as a case study. One of my favourite teachers growing up has my sons name, I am sure subconsciously I was inspired by him.

Your right spoon. There is a link between name popularity in the states and in the united kingdom. Trying to find the link, the gist of the article was that name trends in the US were replicated in the UK a few years later.

My dds name is ok but the name she would have ebeen had she been a boy is set to be popular apparently.. If we ever have another boh we still want to use the name but am pissed the Lego movie will maybe make it popular!

Having a popular can be a good thing, in my year group there were 9 Emma's. And they were like a ready made friendship group, they entered into the school talent show together always took group photos on school trips. They had other friends but they would make a point of getting together every now and again.

I was jealous I have a very unique and wished my name was a little more popular.

DD1s name didn't register, DD2 peaked in 2002 and my name peaked in 1990 much higher than DD2 (I was born in 1974!)

DS's name is more popular in the US than in the UK, but it's still quite a flat line. It last peaked in 1991. It will decline as a baby name every year from now through 2020.

My own name peaked in 1965 and will next peak in 2035. It's a proper 70s name!

I'm not sure if parents want a popular name for their child or not, DS's is pretty rare and I like that, but some other mums have been about it.

I've long maintained that Harry potter is responsible for the rise in popularity of 'Lily' - and possibly therefore flower names in general?!
