....do you think of Mr Hankey the Xmas poo from South Park??

I love it as a nn for Henry, and as DP is Canadian, we think it would go down well over there and give a N American element.

Nope. I think of Hank Hill.

That said I really like it Smile .

I also love Chuck for Charles and other American male nicknames.

I think he might get teased at school with people substituting the H for a W. Sorry :(

I think Breaking bad, but I do like the name.

No, not any name.

Some are more likely than others though. [bitter experience]

EyelinerQueen · 13/05/2014 09:43

Of course they can.

I really don't understand ruling names out because some future theoretical schoolmates might one day come up with a rhyming insult Confused .

Or starving - cockney rhyming slang

I think of Hank Wangford, the country singing gynaecologist. And wank.

i thought of Tom Hanks, who i love.

I think it's a great name, and i agree with you that it will go down well in Canada too.

Henry is also lovely if you were to change your mind.

South Park never entered my head even though i know all the words to the Mr Hanky song

Hank Marvin

(which is an association in use in a mainstream advert for the other rhyming slang =starvin')

I didn't think of South Park, but I did automatically think Wank Blush.

Of course you do have to consider what future schoolmates/peers might make of a name - and of course any name can be pulled apart & made fun of. However, Hank is much more likely to be turned to Wank than Henry would be!

Henry is lovely, but I would steer clear of Hank in the UK.

Well, that proves you've not had to live through it. You'd probably get on well with my parents.
