Just wondering what people think of our short list of possible names for the child we are currently ttc. As you can see, we like more girls names than boys!!

Elowen (eh-LOW-an)
Eveline (EH-vah-leen)

I love Kate and Joel.

Cordelia and James are also nice.

Not so keen on the others.

Thanks Toffee

All your girls names are lovely apart from Kate. Constant media bombardment of the royals ruined that name and the fact there will probably be tons of baby Kates for the foreseeable future. Particularly love all the E names, Eveline is one of my personal faves and on the short list for my own imaginary babies (about to start TTC #1 myself)

Boy names - I love Joel. A good solid but not too boring name.

Thanks Shiver, I seem to be drawn to the E names too! I love Joel as well, my DH isn't keen, but I'm not giving up yet ;o)

Love Cordelia, but I'm not too keen on any of your boys names tbh!

Boys names are hard. Love soooo many girls names, but boys names not so much!

Bowlersarm Sun 11-May-14 12:47:51

Love all your boys names.

Love Kate and Juliet, not so keen on the other girls names.

Juliet - Love it

Rory - it's ok
James - really like it

Love the name cordelia (buffy fan here). Love unusual names-we have 5 kids. 3 are quite common & 2 r unusual. If u like E names how abt evangeline.

Gemerama Sun 11-May-14 16:34:01

Thanks everyone.

Angel I like the sound of the name Evangeline, but not keen on the religious connotations.

Angelto5 Sun 11-May-14 17:15:35

When I looked up the name evangeline it was a name frm an epic poem abt long lost love. Also it has so many nn u can use.

Gemerama Sun 11-May-14 17:19:11

I assumed it was a form of 'evangelical' or 'evangelist', I think it means something like messenger of the gods. We are not religious so would feel a bit hypocritical. Really beautiful name though.

Evangeline is also a great track by the icicle works with an absolutely fantastic intro.

Angelto5 Sun 11-May-14 17:53:02

Also in nanny McPhee evangeline marries Colin firth & in Disney princess & the frog she is the star.
I don't read that much in2 names myself & all my children's names were frm our favourite films/program (just had my 5th dc)

OublietteBravo Sun 11-May-14 17:58:54

I'm not keen on Rory or Elowen, but I like all the others.

My favourites are Eveline (although I think I prefer Evelina) and Joel.

Gemerama Sun 11-May-14 18:26:55

Ah see I'm really into the origins of names.

Our joint favourites are Elodie and Cordelia for a girl and Rory or James for a boy....but it does change somewhat. Given that we aren't even pregnant yet I probably have a bit of time to think about it wink

I also think I could look down at my baby and think 'oh hell, you don't look like an elodie/cordelia/katy' etc and end up with something that pops into my head!

MrsChristmasKate Sun 11-May-14 18:46:20

Love them!! my imaginary baby names are Eryn and Oscar smile
