What do you think? Will people hear it and assume "nosy parker" and would said child likely to be nicknamed "nosy parker"?

SanityClause Tue 15-Apr-14 15:08:19

I thought "Yes M'Lady".

It took me a couple of seconds to get that blush

I know a teenage girl (US) named Parker. And tbh it's really grown on me. She is a lovely girl, sporty, confident and happy. I will always have that assocation with the name.

BeeKayP Tue 15-Apr-14 15:14:39

I immediately think of Desperate Housewives with Lynette and her 3 boys, Porter Parker and Preston.

I don't love it but don't hate it either! I can predict a lot of people on here won't like it. It's a "surname first name" which isn't very popular amongst many!!

FourForksAche Tue 15-Apr-14 15:14:50

yes m'lady,
nosey parker

apart from that it's ok, I wouldn't though.

BeeKayP Tue 15-Apr-14 15:16:17

Is this for a girl or boy? If a girl I would suggest Piper too. Think it's quite sweet!
Makes me think of Taylor Schilling's character in Orange is the New Black who is beautiful

meditrina Tue 15-Apr-14 15:16:57

Yes M'lady.

And Nosy Parker is nigh on inevitables at some stage.

I would think it too difficult to live with in Britain.

mirren3 Tue 15-Apr-14 15:16:58

It's a nice name, and certainly nicely unusual but not too weird......unfortunately I know a 4 year old Parker who has put me off the name forever.

MaxsMummy2012 Tue 15-Apr-14 15:20:50

I like it - my first thought wasn't nosy parker it was spiderman.

LynetteScavo Tue 15-Apr-14 15:25:58

Obviously, I like it. smile

usualsuspectt Tue 15-Apr-14 15:26:58

I like it.

mrssmith79 Tue 15-Apr-14 15:30:51

Mmmm David Boreanez.....

BeeKayP Tue 15-Apr-14 15:35:15

DoctorTwo Tue 15-Apr-14 15:35:37

He'll forever be getting sent to Greggs to 'fetch the rolls'.

BackforGood Tue 15-Apr-14 15:39:53

Don't do it to the poor child.

NadiaWadia Tue 15-Apr-14 15:41:00

Hideous. Possibly the worst of the surname type names, maybe because of the 'nosy parker' associations. Possibly they don't use that phrase in the USA, hence its popularity there. The sound of the word isn't great either.

If you absolutely have to use it, I hope to goodness it's not for a girl, because it's just ugly. Sorry to be so blunt.

squoosh Tue 15-Apr-14 16:15:25

I agree with Nadia. I'm not a massive fan of surnames as first names, although some of them aren't so bad, but this has to be the worst example. Even as a surname it's pretty unimpressive.

mumofthemonsters808 Tue 15-Apr-14 16:22:39

Very popular round here for both males and females. I always associate it with a boy though, I quite like it.

pilates Tue 15-Apr-14 16:25:07

It's awful, sorry.

SinglePringle Tue 15-Apr-14 16:29:02

I really like it for a girl. Not for a boy though.

weatherall Tue 15-Apr-14 21:47:43

Faye Ripley called her DD Parker Posey, I like it.

squoosh Tue 15-Apr-14 21:49:57

Isn't there an actress called Parker Posey? She the indie darling of the 90's.

DramaAlpaca Tue 15-Apr-14 21:51:03

Dislike it intensely for both boys & girls.
