Probably THE most boring baby name question, but which do you prefer? Need to make a final decision now.

Sophia but Sophie is also nice Sofia just looks odd.

NCFTTB Sat 05-Apr-14 13:25:01

All lovely, but I'd go with Sophie.

Coffeethrowtrampbitch Sat 05-Apr-14 13:28:24

Sophie biased as is my dd's name they are all beautiful though!

2beornot Sat 05-Apr-14 13:28:40

I like them all! Sofia is probably my preferred one, but only just!

CountessOfRule Sat 05-Apr-14 13:33:30

Sofia is that irritating NON-princess on the Disney Channel. Her name is therefore only appropriate in a family who can claim continental origins and therefore Italian/Spanish etc spelling.

Assuming pn suh-FEE-uh, Sophia. I don't like the pn suh-FYE-uh.

Sofia, is the capital of Bulgaria and I've been so that's my immediate thought.

Sofia = Bulgaria.
Sophia or Sophie.

I had Sophie on my list for dd so I will go with that

Sophia for me. I don't mind the Sofia spelling. Sophie is a bit overdone now I think

Nocomet Sat 05-Apr-14 14:28:21

Agree totally Sophie is the proper English name
Sophia if you must.
Sofia needs links to a part of Europe that doesn't consider f a misspelling of ph.

Also why so many Isabel(le)s, we are not in France or Itally we don't need the extra le.

MadameJosephine Sat 05-Apr-14 14:28:33

I vote Sophia, much prefer it to Sophie. Not keen on the Sofia spelling, just makes me think of the city so unless she was conceived there I wouldn't spell it that way

CremeEggThief Sat 05-Apr-14 14:32:06

Sophia is best.

looki Sat 05-Apr-14 14:35:03

I have a bit of a fondness for Sofie. I'm sure that it's an incorrect spelling so I'd stick to Sophie.

wigglesrock Sat 05-Apr-14 14:37:30

I have a Sofia (she's 8), she gets Fia occasionally. I chose the Sofia spelling because I'm not a fan of Sophie, it's also meant that there's been no Soph shortening.

Mrsindecision Sat 05-Apr-14 14:51:14

Fwiw, Sophie is actually the French spelling.

Skandichick Sat 05-Apr-14 14:59:19

Really useful comments, thank you!

Still have to choose between Sophia v. Sophie.

Does Sophia sound a bit 'foreign' then? Nothing wr mong with that but we are from the continent and I'd quite like for us to blend in name wise.

CountessOfRule Sat 05-Apr-14 15:19:06

I don't think it sounds foreign, but it's possibly posher and less popular. Do those factors matter?
