How many Primroses do you know?

I love the name Primrose, and all the diminutives, (Prim, Primmy, Posy, Rosie)
but for some reason I'm nervous about it!
Is it really rare where you are? Would you bat an eyelid at a Primrose?
It's my first child so I'm not around children at all.
Middle name would be Mary and surname one syllable beginning with F (car manufacturer)

I like Rose on it's own but then she would have a one syllable first and surname which I'm not keen on. Other names I like are Alexandra and Daisy but not as much as Primrose!

Only Harold Shipman's wife. I don't like the Prim bit. It's either a negative adjective or the beginning of a cheese spread.

I don't know any, but do see it as a real name so wouldn't bat any eyelids.

It's not one I like, though, as I think "prim" isn't easy to live with.

I only know one, an elderly lady known as Prim, I think its a beautiful name . I think there was a baby on OBEM the other night that had Primrose as a second name.

One 12 year old called Prim. And one from school who is late 40's now. She put me off it, if I'm honest. Not the girl herself, but calling her 'Primrose' always seemed a bit odd, dispelling what I generally think which is that once a child has a name it just becomes natural. It just didn't suit her at all.

I quite like the Posy, Rosy short names for it though.

Noone has mentioned the hunger games yet?? ( the character is nice so not a problem but will be known for this by youngsters)
I like the names there are lots of shorter nicknames that are lovely from it.

Harold shipman doesn't put me off because I don't think children will know much about him. Can't account fur future serial killers either.
bowler I think we would use Posy or Rosy day to day as I agree Primrose is maybe a bit much for every day use, unless she prefers it/suits it of course.
I think the option to have just Rose is great if she is a tom boy or a high court judge

It's my DD middle name, it was chosen by older sister as she loved it from the hunger games. Am so happy I agreed to let her have it and get lots of comments on how pretty it is.

I only know one and she's in her 80s. I think it is coming back into fashion though - maybe more so because of the Hunger Games (Primrose "Prim" Everdeen - very cool character, strong and brave). I love the sound of Primrose Mary with your last name. I like just Rose too but not with a one syllable last name like yours.
