So my hubby and I really love the name Beatrix. To give you a bit more info our surname is Phillips so we can't decide if its too much of a mouthful? Beatrix Phillips?

Other names we like are:
Eliza
Penelope (Penny)
Phoebe
Scarlet
Lucy
Elsie
Lola

We're trying to steer away from all the top 10's (Olivia, Isla, Amelia, Sophia - although we do like some of those!). We'd like traditional yet somewhat unique. We don't have a middle name yet so will work on that later (of course if you have any ideas for that too feel free)!

Opinions/suggestions, etc VERY welcome. Baby girls is due in a few months so we've got a bit of time to decide. Thank you! xx

My friend had a baby Beatrix last week! Smile

I like all of your other names except Penelope which to me sounds a bit ugly like Edna or Gertrude. Lola is pretty but reminds me of the drag queen in the Kinks song, although more people would associate it with Charlie and Lola nowadays.

Other similar names...
Eloise
Naomi
Amelie
Jenny
Lois

Hmm, I think you could certainly get away with Beatrix Phillips, but it does sound a bit like a half-rhyme, if you see what I mean.
Eliza Phillips slides off the tongue.
I like Penny/Penelope because I think alliterative names can sound nice, but I do think I am in the minority there!
Love the name Phoebe but it does seem to clash a bit with Phillips when I say it.
I like Scarlet but it does make me think of the expression 'scarlet woman' or Miss Scarlet from Cluedo.
Lucy Phillips goes together very naturally, and I like Lucy because it's ageless and classless - I feel like it could suit a girl no matter what personality she grows up to have IYSWIM? And it sounds pretty.
Elsie and Lola I'm not a fan of but that's just my personal preference. Elsie sounds a bit wishy-washy and Lola sounds like a cocktail waitress - not that there's anything wrong with that, but she could potentially grow to not suit it.

So, on reflection, my preference would be Lucy Phillips. Grin

Go for Beatrix if you love it, it's fine with Phillips.

I don't like Penelope, and not keen on Eliza, but I love your other names.

Nothing wrong with Beatrix Phillips!

I like all your other names as well, except Lola. Quite like Penelope, don't like Penny though.

How about:
Clara
Hermione
Louisa
Emilia
Meredith

Beatrix is the nicest and I don't think it's a problem with your surname. Lucy would be a good middle name. How about Elsa instead of Elsie or Eliza? Or Helena, Cora, Josephine, Tabitha, Dora?

I think Lucy Philips gets my vote, it sounds lovely.
Eliza works well but I'm a bit bored of it.....

Beatrix to me doesn't go well with the surname (I think Beatrice works better for some reason).

Beatrix Phillips is fine, and Beatrix is a lovely name. I like all your names, but I wouldn't go for Phoebe Phillips.

Another vote for Lucy Phillips.

I do love Beatrix but I don't think it flows very well with Phillips for some reason.

Beatrix Phillips doesn't have the best 'flow' ever, but it works fine - certainly not bad enough to prevent you from using it if you love the name. Really like Eliza, and it goes brilliantly with Phillips, but it's getting quite popular. Like Phoebe too, but Phoebe Phillips is too alliterative and cutesy for me.

Not a fan of Scarlet or Lola - neither are awful, but they're both a bit overdone IMO. Elsie, Lucy and Penelope all OK - not favourites of mine, but fine.

I like Elsie Phillips, I think Beatrix is nice but would prob get shortened to Trixie which I don't like.

I think Beatrix might encounter pronunciation problems. Be-a-trix, Baya-trix, Be-trix. I hear Beer Tricks.

From your list I prefer Eliza and Penny.

Wow, Lovely names!!
Carefully consider the nicknames aspect as once they start school it WILL happen!Grin
I taught a Beatrix and a Beatrice a few years ago and they had quickly become "Bee" or "BeeBee" to the other kids, it drove the mummies NUTS, but nothing could be done! If you're ok with it, then go ahead!
I also loved Nina and Sian... But won't get to use them! Wink

I keep hearing Beatrix a lot at the moment - it seems to be on everyone's list. Personally that would put me off, and I'm not wild about the name, but I don't hate it either.

I like Penelope best from your list although I think that has become very popular too. Isn't one of the Kardashians babies called Penelope?
