Baby names

Stupid surname...!

We're having a boy but his surname means there's a lot of names I love that just don't work.

The surname is Lee, I think it makes a lot of names sound girly and I can't think of many names that I like that don't end in the 'ee' sound.

Any ideas?

I think you need a something that ends in quite a hard sound like Edward. What sort of names do you like?

Alexander?

What kind of names do you like regardless of how they sound with the surname?

That would help come up with better suggestions.

Give the baby your surname.

Maybe that is the OPs surname.

It's DPs surname but I'm more than happy for baby to have it, it's just finding a name that fits.
We have a Jacob so think Edward would be pushing the Twilight theme! Plus I'm not keen on it.

My favourites have been Jamie and Jesse, but they sound daft with the surname. I've always loved William but then he'd be called Will lee - Willy.

Love Elliot but we stupidly used it for DSs middle name.

There's lots of nice names but nothing feels right.

Maybe he'll 'tell' you when he's born?

Here's a list of names I think could go, you might hate them all but here goes:

David, Isaac, caleb, max, Thomas, Samuel, Joseph, Joshua, Alexander, Jack...

I know an Oliver Lee, which I think is nice.
I think Jamie Lee sounds a bit feminine.

Would Rob Lee be too much like Rob Lowe? I love Rob.

I think endings of y/ie don't work.

But names I think work, say just from the top 100 or so, are:

Harrison
Jackson
Harry
Thomas
Oliver
George
Samuel
Oscar
Max
Daniel
Logan
Dexter
Jenson
Reuben
Jude
Leon
Gabriel
Cameron
Elijah
Caleb

I know a lot of men with this surname.

Tom
Dan
John
Josh
Simeon
James

as well as some really unusual.old testament names which work well too so no need to stick to really traditional.names!

If you think the surname makes a lot of names sound instantly 'girly' then as rockybalboa suggested, without calling your DS Tarzan I'd suggest picking something fairly traditional, rugged.

Our Ds 2 has ds1's middle name as his first name

James sounds ok, with Jamie as a nickname which doesn't have to sound right with the surname.
