Baby names

Bit early but names that can be shortened to Libby?

I'm only 5+2 and so obviously this is a bit premature, and ninja-cupid could well be a boy but if it's a girl then my favourite girls name is Libby but I feel I need it to have a longer version for job interviews etc when older.
I always wanted to call my daughter Elizabeth for this reason but my partner has twins already and their mum to his disdain decided to call them Ellie and Ella... So Elizabeth is a bit off the cards really.
So far I've thought of Olivia, any other ideas?

I couldn't do liberty, knew an awful woman called liberty!

Lizbeth Is good though. Liborella Is nice but again it's got Ella in it...

I think it might be that I go for Olivia, just looking for something I like that bit more if possible :)

Why not just Libby?

I know two little girls christened as Libby and an Isobel who gets Ibby, if that's close enough, lol

Same reason my mum called me alexandra but only ever called me Alex. I think a full name makes you look better on things like job applications and I like nicknames :p

Isobel might be nice :) though trying to avoid 'el' at all costs...

Lily Beth - Libby for short?

MummyBeerest · 08/03/2014 23:18

No lie-my sister Elizabeth is a Libby. It works.

Libby isn't normally short for Olivia. I think it's a long shot TBH.

Lisbet.

Mummybereest- ideally I'd want Elizabeth but as you can see it would seem a bit much.

Winter hat- surely I could shorten it to what I want, if I call her Libby 95% of the time that will be her name, Olivia will just be for formalities.

Well by that logic, if you don't want a proper contraction of a name, you could name her Sarah and just call her Libby 95% of the time... Or why not simply name her Libby? It's perfectly valid as a full name if you love it.

I have an Isobel who is gradually becoming Libby. She started out as Isobel, then became LittleBelle, then LB, and LibertyBelle, and that is slowly morphing into Libby. She's 11 months. Before she arrived I was going to call her Izzy because I don't like Belle as a nn, but it seems life has other plans...

Once they start school you have no control over what teachers and their friends call them. All the Olivias I know are either Olivia, Ollie or Livvy.

I know a Libby who is really Olivia. No one ever thought that was terribly strange.

My friend has an Elizabeth and Eleanor (Ellie) so I don't see a problem if you prefer Elizabeth. Libby doesn't sound like Ellie or Ella.

Your partner has twin girls called Ellie and Ella? Really? How old are they now?

If you are sure your dd would always be a Libby then I'd just go with Elizabeth since you don't like any obvious other full names.

Anything ending in belle or bella could be shortened to Libby. Arabella?
