Please help...am I over-thinking this?

I have DS who is 3 called William. I'm pretty sure my yellow bump (due next 2 weeks) is blue and we dislike so many boys names...except George! When I first tell friends we can't have it because (a) we'd look like royalists and we're not and (b) it would look daft they think I'm over-thinking it. But then when I go on to say that William and George are going to be more and more in the papers and on the news, for the rest of our/baby's life, people seem to get it. What do you think????

Honestly? I'd love to say it doesn't matter at all, but I think it would put me off! Use George as a middle name maybe?

My cousins, who are now young men are called William and Harry. So they were young when they were young.
My aunt isn't a royalist, they just liked the names and no one ever thought they were named after the royals.
I can see what you mean but I'd just go for it if you like the name.

If it is what you like then go for it. I know a family with a Camilla and a Charles and nobody bats an eyelid.

George is a gorgeous name

Go for it. I wouldn't think anything of it. It's not an unusual name.

Bizarrely, I think if you aren't royalists it really doesnt matter. It's coincidental that you like traditional names that's all.

Popular boys names are William, George, Harry, James, Charlie, Edward, Louis, Alfie (Alfred). All are royal names, and I expect a huge number of families have a few of these names.

A good friend of mines 2 sons are William (8) and George (6).

They are great names and go really well together.

Don't over think it :-)

I barely know any under 4's who aren't called William, Harry or George.

George is absolutely timeless, a true classic, and goes perfectly with William. They are both ordinary enough not to make people think of the princes.

I think George is becoming more popular than ever and people will assume you've named him after Prince George. I like it but that would bother me. My neighbour has a William and just called ds2 Edward. I like that and there are more nn options. Having said all that, your baby, your decision. And nothing wrong with George at all.

Nah, when I hear George and William I just think two solid, traditional, classic names. Frankly loads of names have royal connections and / are popular because they have been kings' and queens' names.

Of course George is going to be v popular now because of the prince but it is hardly off the wall or necessarily connected.

I have a George William. I'm not a royalist, I just love strong, classic boys names.

George and William as sibling names are lovely together.

I don't think it's a problem. I probably wouldn't even register the royal connection. If you were thinking William and Harry, on the other hand, that would be a bit much.
