Any thoughts as to Sid - I love it, but do not know (or know of) a single one, and worry that it's for a reason Grin

Mind, I dont know anyone with DDs name (M e g) and I didnt worry about that.

Happy to hear any and all opinions!

I know a 2 year old called Sid.

I was a bit Hmm when I first heard what they'd called him but I have to admit that it really suits him.

If you like it then go for it OP.

As a medic, it just makes me think of Sudden Infant Death (SID)i.e. Cot death. But maybe I'm just weird.

I know a little Sidney, I quite like it.

Not personally keen on Sid - I know one girl called Sydney who goes by the name "Syd". Not my taste at all. Don't know any young male Sids though.

FWIW, I know lots of Megs as it was very popular when my DCs were born.

A very cool young mum I know called her son Sidney - so it must be uber cool!!

I was randomly thinking about whether i like it as a name or not today and the verdict is positive!!

It makes me think of the character in Ice Age. Sorry.

If you love it you should go for it! Don't listen to a load of strangers opinions on the Internet!

Meg and Sid do sound good together I must admit. Smile

The lads who work for me call each other Sid when they're taking the piss out of each other, but I must admit I have no idea why!

Love it

Would it be Sydney with Sid for short, or just Sid. (Applying the High Court Judge rule Sydney works well, as long as you then don't mind folks asking if that is where he was conceived!)

I like it. I like Ice Age too!

I know two Sids. One age 7 and one a newborn. Both adorable.

I have an uncle Sid. I've always thought it is a great name.

Really don't like it, but then I'm not a fan of most 'grandad chic' names as to my ears they're anything but chic. There's a little chap called Jim in the Reception class at my sons' school and I just can't get my head around it.

I like Sidney, but just Sid on it's own is a bit weird.

Agreed.Sidney nn Sid is great.

I know one!

I think it's a fab name, but I didn't know him as a baby so I suspect if I would have been Shock at a baby called Sid.

But that's the point - they are not babies for long are they?

Sid and Meg does make me think of the teleporter poem in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy tho, although I expect you'd have to be a nerd to remember that. Blush

I know two, both in reception (different schools, same city). Would Sid be the full name or short for Sidney?

I think it's a lovely name, but would use Sidney on BC.
