Need to find a sister name for Helena/Nell, i.e. goes with both names or has a nickname that goes with Nell. These are my faves but not sure any of them are 'the one'. Can you suggest anything? THanks

Helena and Bryony
Helena and Claudia
Helena and Florence
Helena and Frances
Helena and Iris
Helena and Johanna
Helena and Julia
Helena and Louisa
Helena and Meredith

Helena and Niamh.

From your list, OP, I prefer Helena and Iris, or Helena and Meredith. I love Iris!

Love all your list except Florence and Louisa. You don't see Bryony often, it's nice. Julia, Meredith and Iris my other favourites. How about Susannah? Nell and Susie? Helena and Susannah? Or Rosamund?

Thanks all.

Yes, I also like:
Cassandra/Cassie, although the story of her namesake bothers me a bit! I have considered Cassia as an alternative, just not sure if people would mispronounce it. No-one said they like Claudia then!

Rosalind/Ros, but not sure about Rosie, which I guess it will get shortened to.

I like Susannah, but not sure if it's a bit dated? Same with Johanna and Louisa really...

Love Beatrice, but I've already used that as a middle name!

Also really like Julia, but it's the name of a living relative so I'm not sure.

Love Helena. DS was to be Helena. His now v elderly sister (in MN terms) is Grace, which of course is now way too mainstream.

Love Meredith - nn Merry - 'Merry and Nell'

Love Frances - although 'Fanny and Nell' doesn't have quite the ring for these modern times!

Helena and Maud - bear with me, 'Nell and Maudie', just lovely.

Helena and Miriam -Nell and Mim.

or there's the Shakespearean line to follow, as Helena is a heroine of his. I'll miss out Hermia, as she and Helena are sidekicks. You've got Rosalind already - lovely name, but it will be nicknamed to Ros. And you've used Beatrice. Some are perhaps too mainstream- Olivia, Imogen, Isabella...

But there's Viola, Portia, Hermione, Juliet, Cordelia, Cressida (reservations, just a horrid play!), Miranda (too 'flowery' perhaps, looking at your other names?) and what about Celia? Very much in the Helena area, namewise.

WhiteHair - funnily enough I did look at Shakespearean names... I didn't intentionally give DD1 them, but once I realised I figured it was a good theme! Maybe I'll look at all those names again. I love Celia and considered it for DD but our surname is very sibilant, so not sure we can use it! I like Clara too but a good friend has used it. It's so tough!
