Boys names. Peter? Suggestions welcome...

31 weeks with DS1 and struggling for names. Have a DD called D e l l a J e a n already. We want a traditional but not overly popular name. We are leaning towards Peter. Would you?
DH likes Ernest, Arthur (2 in nursery already though), William, Charles. I like ( but have been vetoed on) Sebastian, Rufus, Hector. We both like Edmond and Edwin, but don't like nn Ed or Eddie....
Any suggestions? Feelings on Peter?

I like Peter and the only non adult one I know is 13 so not overly popular.

I like Peter. Your DH preferences are pretty boring and popular.

Love it. But not Pete - refuse all diminutives!

Absolutely love it. All peters I know (adults) are good men. It's also in my top 3 (due in 6 weeks) Smile

You could have Ned for Edmund perhaps?

Really like Peter. We struggle for boys names as DH has a mahoosive mainly male family and they don't have a Peter. I don't know any but it is a good classic name.

Love it. Can I also say how awesome your DDs name is? Smile

Wow, pretty unanimous then! Thanks IHeart, I think that's been part of the problem, I love her name so much, and boys names just don't seem to do it in the same way for me :)

I felt the same when I had DS after DD, but luckily DH had a name he loved and even luckier I really liked it too! My DS' middle name is Peter.

Peter is an excellent choice.

Peter is lovely and a fab choice.

Its quite classic but very rare in children. I prefer it to all the other names on your list.

Peter is a great name - cool, classic and not overused these days!

Also like Edmund.

Hector has an unfortunate meaning (and nickname!)

Peter is just so lovely. It means rock. My dad is Peter and he is indeed my rock Smile

I like Peter - classic but not overly popular. What about Philip as an alternative? (Possible nickname Pip?) I like that too.

I really dislike Peter. Really wet and drippy.

I don't think you should use the Ed... names unless you like Ed!

Angus
Fraser
Paul

Peter Sutcliffe the Yorkshire ripper. Sorry. That's what I think of every time I hear that name.

Love Peter proper name. Ernest will end up as Ern and then Big Ern and Arthur is just awful.

I don't hate Pete with the same passion as I hate Ed, although wouldn't use it at home. Can't stand Paul or Philip though, Angus and Fraser too Scottish! I like Ranulph Tall, I have been vetoed on Ralph though!

Peter is great! A classic name overdue for a revival. You have much better taste than your OH. Ernest, FGS!

I really love Peter but I am biased as it is DH and DBro's name. I think of it in the same camp as Henry, Edward, Alexander etc and don't really understand why it hasn't has the same surge in popularity as those kind of names.
