Um...no?
What's wrong with Daphne and Odette?

That you should be a good friend and refrain from starting threads about her name choices.

Who said there was anything wrong with them?

Lovely names!

I quite like Daphne. Not keen on Odette, as it just makes me think odd. Just a matter of taste though, they are not bad names. Why do you ask?

Why are you asking?

They're great, but why are you asking?

She's had a lot of mixed reviews and just thought I'd see what everyone thought. I personally think they are beautiful names..

Yep, lovely. Especially odette, like the folk singer odetta. Arent your friend and her kids going to be easily identified on this thread? Potentially hurtful, no?

What dyslexic said.

Did she ask you to ask MN?

Report
pictish · 23/01/2014 21:56

Oh. Well I like them. Daphne less so...but it's not a bad name by any means. I prefer Delphine personally.

I really like Odette. I wouldn't have paired it with Daphne personally

Odette I like as it remind me of Swan Lake and I love that ballet.

Daphne I don't like, tis dated.

She's had a few bad comments about the names and I coupdnt really see why as I think they are lovely, just thought I'd see what all you ladies thought.. I hadn't meant anything bad by it..

I wouldn't feel comfortable posting my friends' chosen names for her babies on the internet.

They are going to be known as Daffy and Dodie by the time they are four.

Report
ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 22:03

Daffy and dodie?

Perhaps if she wanted a Mn verdict she would have asked herself? I do love both names, so unusual and underused.

Is she a ballet & opera fan by any chance.

I would be really annoyed if a friend put my children's names online and asked for strangers' 'thoughts'. Particularly as they are twin names that are quite unusual so more easily identifiable.

Confused

Odette is pretty, reminds me of Swan Lake too.

To me, Daphne will always be the woman who gave birth through her dungarees, in Neighbours. Or a duck.

Sorry.

I only posted so I could show her all the nice comments about the names to reassure her (providing the comments where nice) she doesn't use mn.
I was just trying to reassure her as she's been worried after people being abit rude about her name choices.
I genuinely was trying to be nice..
