Ellis is lovely!

Love Ellis. I like Elias too. I have an Eli.

I have an Ellis. I love it. It's made it just into the top 100 this time around. So I'm confident it's not too "out there" but that there won't be 3 others in his class.

Love Ellis. Not over fond of Elliot - always think ET.

I hadn't heard of the name Ellis till I met someone at work with that name...but it really started to grow on me. Much prefer it to Elliott :-)

I like it. Also looks nice spelled Elis.

I like Ellis for a girl but not so keen for a boy tbh, it seems a girly name to me but maybe that's because the Ellis's I know are all girls. I would pick Elliot for a boy.

Ellis was a given name before it was a surname. It was popular in the Middle Ages as a variant of Elias.

I prefer Ellis - Elliot seems too American.

DC2s middle name is Ellis as it is a family surname. My DH wanted it to be his first name but someone said to me it sounded too much like Alice. Shout it out as if you are calling someone and it does!

Onesleeptillwembley Sun 05-Jan-14 12:53:18

Too surnamey.

scaevola Sun 05-Jan-14 12:52:38

I prefer Ellis, but think both are lovely.

SS3J Sun 05-Jan-14 12:51:38

I prefer Elliot - that was on my boys list before DP vetoed :-( but I like both. I've never met an Ellis, although I know people with the surname.

soontobeslendergirl Sun 05-Jan-14 11:14:47

Elliot definitely. The only Ellis I know is a teenager who is an absolute shite, think shoplifter, truant, drinking, smoking etc.

whatshallwedo Sun 05-Jan-14 10:54:48

I like Ellis, it was on our list had we have had a boy smile

missmargot Sun 05-Jan-14 10:15:45

I really like Ellis, I like Elliot too but prefer Ellis.

Leeds2 Sun 05-Jan-14 10:15:40

Wouldn't choose either. Elliot reminds me of ET too, although I prefer it to Ellis.

ch1134 Sun 05-Jan-14 10:15:16

I like Ellis

Theonlyoneiknow Sun 05-Jan-14 09:46:53

I prefer Elliot, i know both boys and girls called Ellis, like the name.

OhCaptainDarling Sun 05-Jan-14 09:39:18

Prefer Elliot, IMO it's more classic.

eatyourveg Sun 05-Jan-14 09:29:43

Lots of relatives called Ellis. Elliot reminds me of ET

NickNacks Sun 05-Jan-14 09:15:20

I like both.

Saharap2 Sun 05-Jan-14 09:14:37

What do you think of the name Ellis for a boy? And do you prefer Ellis or Elliot?
