Our dd2 is due in less than 2 weeks. We have decided on Matilda but now I'm awake reconsidering our very first choice(before we knew it was a girl) of Georgia, we discarded this for Daisy then unanimously settled on Matilda. Now I'm wondering did we make a mistake. If you had to choose between Georgia & Matilda, which would you choose & why? Xxx

Matilda,
I dislike girls names with male NNs

Matilda is beautiful. Strong but not too strong. Perfect.

Love Matilda!

However if you're really unsure you could always wait till she arrives, and see which one she fits best!

I prefer Matilda. I don't like names that are also places, as I think that the connotations can rub off. So if something really bad were to happen in Georgia, it would be the first thing people think of when they hear your DDs name.

Matilda for me too. Georgia is okay, but a bit more twee, IMHO.

I think Matilda is classier. It's solidly middle-class and quite popular if that bothers you. Both are better than Daisy, so you can't really go wrong.

Matilda is a brilliant name.

I'm totally biased as I have a beautiful dd Georgia. I adore the name and although I know its more popular in the south its not popular in the midlands (dont know any other Georgia's under 15).
Plus you have Georgie and George as nn both so cute in little girls. I get lots of positive comments on dd's name :)

Is it too late to maybe consider Georgiana, as opposed to Georgia?

Matilda all the way.

There may be a lot more Georgias since Prince George was born. As well as that, while it's a nice name, I think Matilda is nicer.

Georgia is much much nicer than Matilda.

Georgia for me, I love it's understated style.
Matilda feels dated to me as it seemed really popular when I had my DD. I wanted to use it because of a family tree link but then it appeared everywhere so I'm glad I didn't.

I think part of my dislike is based on the popularity of the nn Tilly, but I do like the nn Tilda.

I like both and know lovely girls with both names, personally I prefer Georgia. Matilda is very popular right now and I think the short versions are a bit twee. Tilly, Mati, Tilda.... Hmmm.

I like Matilda. Georgia is overly popular. I teach 4 Georgias.

Personally I'm not keen on it. But in the end it's up to you. You're hardly going to find a name that everyone likes.

Whereabouts are you sarah just checking its not near me I take it they are 'older' Georgia's

I can't decide. DD says Matilda.

Both are nice though my preference is definitely Matilda. It' sounds classier to me. I don't like the hard second g in the name Georgia and it reminds me of the coffee machine Gaggia?

Matilda is my favourite. I also like Tilly as nn. All female Georgias I know are known as 'George' which is funny in a kind of ironic way but not really. Georgina is not bad though.

I like Georgia but prefer Georgina, it's on my name list.

I like Matilda as well, though!

I like Daisy better then Georgia (which personally, I dislike - sorry) or Matilda (but would go for that over Georgia).

I prefer Georgia but I do like Matilda.

I reckon you should wait till she's born and see what suits her best.
