Harper - girl or boy?

Would you say Harper is more girls or boys name?

If we DO have a girl and call it Harper, will there always be the association with the Beckhams?

Definitely a girl.
We know a Harper and although yes when she was first born there were the obvious Beckham remarks but she's 1 now and all that is forgotten. She's a gorgeous little cutie!

Harper Lee - To Kill a Mockingbird

If you asked DS he would say Wizards of Waverly Place

I know one, and he's a boy!

But I would say it's a girl's name. Apparently it is traditionally an English boy's name, but Harper Lee made it popular as a girl's name. And the Beckhams, of course!

Had only ever heard of Harper Lee pre Beckhams.

I used to like it, but would be put off using it now because of the Beckham association.

Girls name.
Only know of Harper Lee and now obviously Harper Beckham.
Not keen on it really.

We live in the US where it is increasingly popular for girls (don't know any male harpers) and there is zero Beckham association. It's a big world out there - even in the UK, not everyone knows what celebrities' kids are called. I love it.

It's my daughters name so I would definitely say girl!

I would like to point out she is 4 so pre Beckham!

Either.

I'd think Harper Lee first.

Girls. I know a gorgeous little Harper, she's 1. Few comments at first about the Beckhams but none now.

I'd think Harper Lee first. I love it and it would be on my girl list if not for the Beckham association - I don't mind the Beckhams but I don't want people thinking I took my name idea from them rather than Harper Lee, which is the true inspiration.

Surname also.

Wasn't Harper Lee's name Nelle HL?

Which tbh sounds like Nelle plus two surnames.

Paul Simon's son is called Harper. I like it for either.

And yes, Harper wasn't Harper Lee's real first name.

Don't like it, it sounds like a surname imho
