Just wondering what others think? I love it with Freddie as a NN, DP hates it though.

ZingChoirsOfAngels Fri 13-Dec-13 22:16:22

Frasier's son.

do it.

ilovespinach Fri 13-Dec-13 21:34:18

Love it! I have a Frederick known as Fred hardly ever Freddie.

Don't like old man names sorry, and not keen on any names that end in ie after a certain age.

NomDeClavier Wed 11-Dec-13 12:15:30

I love it and know one nn Rick but it's DH's deceased brother so we can't use it.

Bue Wed 11-Dec-13 12:10:56

It's my favourite name. The only thing holding me back is Freddie - it's a great name but it so popular that it's been slightly ruined for me. Also I am not keen on Fred. So I waver on whether I would actually use it, despite loving it one thousand times more than any other boys' name!

Superb name which I hope one of my DC will use. It's a name which holds lots of memories & one I couldn't use with my DS & I now live in hope for the future generation.

Hi Dont -I wasn't allowed to call either of my 2 DS Freddie so the dog had it instead smile

CruCru Tue 10-Dec-13 18:29:41

Frederick is my brother's name. He has always been called Freddy though.

DontLetTheMugglesGetYouDown Tue 10-Dec-13 18:20:13

Haha Impomea that's part of why I want it! Queen are my most favourite band!

I love it, think I'm going to have to push for it though!

HenriettaMaria Tue 10-Dec-13 17:39:18

I like Frederick.

Mainly, I think, because of Captain Wentworth in my favourite Jane Austen novel, Persuasion.

Impomea Tue 10-Dec-13 17:35:28

Freddie after the brilliant Mr Mercury what could be better grin

eatyourveg Tue 10-Dec-13 17:34:44

I know one who is a Fred. The only Freddie I know is an Alfred not Frederick.

MiracleOntheM4 Tue 10-Dec-13 17:29:27

Love it!

pinkgirlythoughts Tue 10-Dec-13 17:28:24

I have a Frederick, it's family name in both of our families. We use a mixture of Freddie and Frederick day to day. DH wasn't keen either, until after DS was born, when he decided it suited him well, so it might just be a case of waiting it out a while for you!

PandaNot Tue 10-Dec-13 17:08:31

I know one who gets called Fred, never Freddie. He's really lovely but it's one of the names I just don't like, I'm not sure why.

Ilovekittyelise Tue 10-Dec-13 17:02:52

my brother is frederick; freddie wont last much past the age of 8, by which time he will feel its babyish and become fred. so decide whether you like fred its inevitable.

scrummy2b Tue 10-Dec-13 16:27:42

I love it. It's my favourite boys name. Freddie's gorgeous, especially when they're little. It also works brilliantly for one adult Freddie I know. The other has been Fred since he was a teenager.

MoFoe1 Tue 10-Dec-13 15:35:41

I like it grin

KLou1105 Tue 10-Dec-13 15:33:30

Not keen in Frederick but what about Maverick?

Rooners Tue 10-Dec-13 15:04:04

spelled Frederic here

Rooners Tue 10-Dec-13 15:03:37

It's lovely - we have used it as a middle name, it's a family name here too.

BobaFettTheHalls Tue 10-Dec-13 14:35:54

I love it but I can't pronounce it (stupid lisp turns it into Fwedwick).

CarryOnDancing Tue 10-Dec-13 14:31:11

I love Frederick but Freddie feels popular and take some of the charm away for me. It's a perfectly nice, useable name though!

MrsHelsBels74 Tue 10-Dec-13 14:27:01

I love it, but I have a 3yo Frederick (usually known as Freddie). It was my grandad's name & he was my hero growing up so it's sentimental too.

pudseypie Tue 10-Dec-13 14:20:30

Sorry. Don't like it. My father has it as it's a family name but has used his middle name all his life.
