I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and we don't know whether it's a boy or a girl. Pretty much sorted a boys name and I was just wondering what people thought of my current shortlist for a girl. Middle name is likely to be Marie unless I choose it for the first name smile

Senna (one of DH's suggestions after an F1 driver.)

Amelie - I like the French pronunciation but not the UK 'Emily with an A'
Aria - sounds like 'are ya?'
Alexa - Nice. Prefer Alexia.
Allegra - Like
Ariana - Dislike
Charlotte - Don't like the 'Charlie' nickname potential
Clara - Love!
Eden - reminds me of a bratty tv star blush
Ellyse - Only like it spelt Elise
Estelle - Love!
Lyra - I love it but at the same time dislike the 'Lie' sound.
Rosa - like
Scarlett - dislike
Summer - I know a lovely girl by this name, so love
Senna (one of DH's suggestions after an F1 driver.) - really dislike

Hope this helps smile

I'm glad that you like some of my favourite ones. Some are there more because DH actually said yes to them. He has not been helpful for suggestions, most of his are cars or race car drivers. The other he suggested was Alice Eden, to sound like Alycidon which is the name of a locomotive that he likes. Resounding no for that grin Agree about Charlie short for Charlotte, I prefer Lottie as a nn.

I like Charlotte, Clara and Rosa. Not come across Lyra but I do quite like that one too.

Senna is a laxative, might want to rethink that one!

Oh embarrassing, that's Senna off the list! I even knew that, my MIL ias a regular user of it.

I like Ariana, Summer, Aria. Also like Ellyse but would spell it Elise.

How about Sienna, Stella, Aurora, Edith, Louisa?

Rosa is lovely. That's my favourite

Strawberryfieldsforever1 Wed 20-Nov-13 23:26:34

Clara and Estelle are lovely.

Bowlersarm Wed 20-Nov-13 23:28:59

I like Clara, Rosa, and Summer.

Theonlyoneiknow Wed 20-Nov-13 23:29:23

What about Seren a lovely welsh name, instead of Sennen?

MomentForLife Wed 20-Nov-13 23:32:28

Love Clara and Lyra

pinkandsparklytoo Wed 20-Nov-13 23:47:16

Thanks for your comments. I've suggested Seren to DH before but he didn't like it.

Sennen sounds like a laxative :@/

Amelie - hate the film so it's a 'no' on this one
Aria - I'd assume you were a Games of Thrones geek
Alexa - quite like
Allegra - quite like
Ariana - don't like
Charlotte - way too many Charlottes in the world
Clara - like
Eden - sounds like an American soap character
Ellyse - nope
Estelle - love
Lyra - like
Rosa - it's ok
Scarlett - it's ok
Summer - nope
Senna - reminds me of Sennokot

DiamondsAndRust Thu 21-Nov-13 13:40:20

Amelie - cute, a bit faddy though imo
Aria - Arya Stark (Game of Thrones) or an opera buff!
Alexa - no
Allegra - not for me. A little on the pretentious side.
Ariana - pretty
Charlotte - massively overdone
Clara - lovely - elegant and pretty
Eden - a bit 'soapy'-sounding for my taste
Ellyse - dislike. Elise is OK though
Estelle - dislike (like either Stella or Estella though)
Lyra - pretty. Love the 'His Dark Materials' books, so I think of the character from those
Rosa - beautiful
Scarlett - very 'of the moment' I think. Will date.
Summer - OK
Senna - I think of the laxative (Senokot?) Unpleasant association! Prefer Seren.

Personally would narrow it down to Clara, Rosa, Lyra and Ariana. Some of the others (Eden, Scarlett, Amelie) might work well as mns though?

I think the only ones that go with Marie are:
