My gawd I am becoming a baby name obsessive!

Love the nn Cece so we are considering Cecilia/Cecelia.

A/what do you think?

B/ How should it be pronounced?

floatyflo Wed 20-Nov-13 14:22:53

* Sa-SEEL-yah

Pinkbell123 Wed 20-Nov-13 15:09:06

I love it! But I would pronounce it with more of a Seh sound at the front rather than a Sa.

So Seh-SEE-li-a

I also really like Cecily.

galwaygirl Wed 20-Nov-13 15:09:48

I like it but can't get past the meaning of it

galwaygirl Wed 20-Nov-13 15:10:23

Plus would pronounce as pink bell said

HyvaPaiva Wed 20-Nov-13 15:12:32

Pinkbell's pronunciation and the spelling Cecelia is better, looks more rounded than Cecilia. It also makes more sense if you're using the nickname Cece.

OBface Wed 20-Nov-13 15:18:09

Love Cecelia. Would use it myself if we had another girl but rhymes with dd's name!

UriGeller Wed 20-Nov-13 15:20:58

Oh Beautiful! Its one of my favourite names.

I'd say "Seh-Seel-Yah" but pronounce it either way, its still the ultimate in elegant, timeless and gorgeous names.

Cece, well...I have a Cece (nn) but she's not Cecelia grin

floatyflo Wed 20-Nov-13 15:23:21

Yea that's what I meant I pinkbell. Sorry not very good at writing down pronounciations like that.

May I ask what Cece is short for with you Uri?

TheNunsOfGavarone Wed 20-Nov-13 15:31:25

Lovely name and so is Cecily.

I would pronounce it Ses-see-le-yah.

hulabaloo Wed 20-Nov-13 15:38:22

I like the sound of it, but the meaning isn't great (caecus = blind in latin). I'd say Seh-SEE-lya.

UriGeller Wed 20-Nov-13 15:50:33

No, sorry! Its the best name ever and I'm not about to release it to the world!

squoosh Wed 20-Nov-13 16:01:28

I just want to sing 'Suh-SEEEEEEEEEE-lya, you're breaking my heart' in a really jolly, obnoxious way.

I love Cece but think Cecilia is a very 'virginal, prune faced, maiden aunt' type name.

Mogz Wed 20-Nov-13 16:30:09

I think it's gorgeous, it's very feminine yet strong.

birdybear Wed 20-Nov-13 16:31:47

love it! you're breaking my heart! love the song too

Only1scoop Wed 20-Nov-13 16:34:00

It's my MIL name and wow is she one scary mother grin

ElizabethBathory Wed 20-Nov-13 16:47:19

I love it and love Cece too.

Sundaedelight Wed 20-Nov-13 17:56:11

Beautiful and original.
Know a lovely teenage Cecilia nn cece.

meditrina Wed 20-Nov-13 17:59:10

I think it's a lovely name, and would pronounce the full form ses-SEE-li-ya

Ilovexmastime Wed 20-Nov-13 19:13:36

It's my MIL's name and she hates it! Also, it makes me want to sing the Simon & Garfunkel song too every time I hear it.

wigglesrock Wed 20-Nov-13 19:17:56

I prefer Cecile, Cecelia to me its what my grannys sisters were called. It's along the same lines as Dymphna, Patricia, Assumpta. I'm not explaining it very well blush , it's a nun type name.

DawnOfTheDee Wed 20-Nov-13 19:38:43

Love it. Thinking about it might prefer Cecile though.

PavlovtheCat Wed 20-Nov-13 19:43:17
