Africa isn't a country.

The obvious (to me) school nickname for Egypt would be eedjit.

India is the only one that is a name to me.

Don't be stupid.

You are naming a person not a bloody pet.

It's your child who has to live with a stupid name, not you. You can not seriously be thinking of calling your child Belgium. If you are, I think you should hand the responsibility of naming this new person onto someone else.

Ougadougou always slips nicely off the tongue I think.

Seriously, India was traditionally considered posh, but now isn't. I taught a little Spanish girl called Africa years ago, but she is the only Africa I have ever come across. Never heard of an Egypt human being. Kim Basinger's kid is called Ireland IIRC.

"stumbling onto the next Paris" isn't necessarily a good thing y'know....

"a place can be a name".

Yes, it sure can. As with many things in this life though, just because it can, doesn't mean it should.
