Hi All!
I hope doing this right as this is my first ever post!
Me and my OH really can't find a girls name we like or agree on, we already have a little bit called Noah and that came to us straight away, this is proving much more difficult!
The names we like so far are: Minnie (my fave) violet (his fave), florence, nancy, vivenne, etc, but we just can't decide on one, or they just aren't sticking with us? We really like olive but my Sister in Law named her girls Olivia :(!
Please help! any suggestions of classic old names are very very welcome!
Thanks
Mommafifi!

Not hugely keen on your girls names. Minnie is okay as a nn do you have a full name in mind or not. Don't like Violet. Nancy and Vivenne are ok.

What about Lara?

daughterofafarmer · 02/11/2013 20:51

Missed Florence off. I do like it, however know loads Grin

Gabriella nn Gaby or Ella

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/11/2013 20:54

Like Violet and Vivienne. Hate Olive, sorry.

Minnie might work as nn for Miranda (though prefer Mimi)?

Rtfairy · 02/11/2013 20:54

Love Violet and Florence. Also think the following would go well with Noah:

Emily
Grace
Lily
Poppy
Rose
Lucy

inaspotofbother · 02/11/2013 20:56

I all of those, except Minnie unless it's a nickname for a longer name. Think Nancy and Vivienne are my faves.

How about

Rose
Margaret nn Maggie or Daisy or Pearl
Lois
Frances/Francesca
Iris
Mabel
Jemima
Penelope
Viola
Octavia
Greta
Constance (Connie)
Blythe
Opal
Marianne

MrsBungleScare · 02/11/2013 20:57

Both Florence and Vivienne are really nice.

inaspotofbother · 02/11/2013 20:57

Sorry meant to say I like all of those!

NoAddedSuga · 02/11/2013 20:58

Dont like any of the names suggested.

Devon
Savannah
Amelia
Kezia
Bethany
Isabel
Scarlett
Rosie
Sophie

jkklpu · 02/11/2013 20:58

Iris
Saffron
Constance
Verity
Rebecca
Bryony
Meriel
Valerie

Rtfairy · 02/11/2013 20:59

Isobel would go nicely with Noah too I think

Idislikemymil · 02/11/2013 21:01

I love your names. My daughter has a Minnie in her class - it's very
Cute - and violet was on my list, until I had a boy. Either is good. Minnie is also good as an adult name.

Oriunda · 02/11/2013 21:04

Minerva nn Minnie is lovely
Violet prefer Viola

NoAddedSuga · 02/11/2013 21:04

The problem with the name minnie is that its a word alot of young children use for their vagina.

Also other children may be able to single her out easy for name calling due to minnie and mickey mouse.

fruitpastille · 02/11/2013 21:06

I am considering Noah for dc3. My dd is Matilda nn Tilly.

Katekate77 · 02/11/2013 21:15

I have twins called Millie and Isabel. My friend has a daughter called violet, also in their group of friends are Edie, Isla and Ava. Love all the old fashioned names coming back!

I actually liked Mathilda (Matty or Tilly as a nn) but hubby hated it! I thought Millie and Mathilda would have been so cute Smile

Mommafifi · 02/11/2013 21:16

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Mabel was on my list too!
We liked Minnie for Minerva, I like the older fashioned names because I feel Noah is quite an old name, and you don't hear it very often! I don't want a common name but then again I don't want a modern new fandangled name like Devon, I'm glad lots of people agree with me on Minnie! I'm not into Disney so this link doesn't bother me but it's what's worrying my hubby! My lo calls the bump Minnie which is too cute! I think because we got it so right the first time who bout any effort I'm feeling massive pressure! Ha! I do like "ie" or "y" sounding names! Quite like Valerie! And Lilly but that's really popular now!
Thanks again everyone for the positive comments

How do they pronounce Edie?

OP posts:
Katekate77 · 02/11/2013 21:21

They pronounce it eeeedy. Rhymes with needy Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/11/2013 21:22

Love Edie.

natandmat · 02/11/2013 21:25

I LOVE LOVE Minnie! I also really like Florence, but I know a couple, I thinks it's fairly popular now x

Mommafifi · 02/11/2013 21:25

Lol, thanks ;) really like that! Edie sounds very nice! We liked Reenie as well!

Katekate77 · 02/11/2013 21:30

Reenie is cute! I went through a weird phase when I was little where I would pretend my name was Reenie...I remember despairing each time my parents used my real name Confused

Oriunda · 02/11/2013 21:31

My grandmother was Irene nn Reenie (pronunciation - not sure of spelling though). What about Irene or Irena?
