Brother for Fred

We can only agree on one name for DS2 who is due in a couple of weeks - Barney. We both adore the name but wondering if Fred and Barney will forever be known as the Flintstone brothers! I don't imagine for a second that their peers will make the connection but being a child of the 80s myself I'm all too familiar with the Flintstones.

What does everyone else think?

I'm usually a if you like the name it doesn't matter what any one else thinks type of person.

But even I draw the line at Fred and Barney.

People would be forever shouting 'Wilmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' in an oh so hilarious fashion.

How about Arthur?

I agree not Barney, unless DS1 is Alfred, shortened to Fred, and you can swap his name to use Alfie instead.

I wouldn't, Flintstones definitely springs to mind.

Barnaby would be slightly better.

The Fred's I know have brothers Samuel, George and Arthur.

My fears confirmed! Oh dear, back to the drawing board with no other plausible options on... I like Arthur a lot but we know quite a few, but I think a commonly used name is probably on balance better than one from a comedy duo! Thanks all.

We've got a Freddie, I am pg with #2 and hoping it will be a girl as we can't think of any boys names

Although having said that, Arthur is the only one anywhere near the shortlist -but like you OP, I know a couple of Arthurs already, including my DS's best friend!

Oh come on people! I say if you like it do it. The connection won't mean anything in the playground. And I'm sure there would be some people who would (annoyingly...) say 'Oh like the Flintstones!' on the occasions when you are introducing both of them together, but honestly, if you love the name, it's not too much to live with is it?!

I think you need to be cautious about Weasley names too (Arthur, Bill, Charlie, Percy, (especially) George, Ron, plus Molly and Ginny for any future girls).

Fred and Roy (i have a crush on that name at the moment..) both nice and solid, bit early 20th century.
