Please help, can't argue any more, how can this be so difficult
We are due in one week and do not know what sex baby we are having
We decided to leave it to the people to help us, so the most votes gets it

Boys names are
Asa
Easton
Lex
Zane

Girls names are
Lexi
Malia
Makaya

Our surname is Taylor, not that that really matters, and will be a little brother/sister to Beau.

Please help

Not keen on any the, but Alexander for a boy and Alexa or Alexandra for a girl would give you the desired name Lex/Lexi as nicknames whilst giving them a fuller name for birth certificates etc. Plus goes really well with your surname.

Agree with Oriunda.

Though if I had to choose from your lists I'd go for Zane or Malia.

Not keen in any I'm afraid. Probably dislike Lex/Lexi the least but think Lex Taylor sounds like a Marvel villain.

The names all sound a bit like they're trying hard too hard to stand out.

Perhaps we are thinking wrong, Although when we named Beau, everyone queried the name (what ????)and now everyone loves it. We did like the name Raine but coupled with Beau was too fanciful and fluffy.

Asa Taylor - doesn't sound right (assuming you pronounce Asa as "Ay-sa")
Easton - is this a name?? Sounds like a town.
Lex - Luther? Alexander would be better, nn Lex if you must
Zane - best of the lot, but not keen. however other DC is Beau, you obvs have a quirky tast. (Assume Beau is a boy?)

Girls names are
Lexi - Again OK, but better as a nn for Alexa/Alexandra
Malia - as in Obama? No
Makaya - Doesn't sit well with Taylor (again assuming its pronounced "Mak-ay-a".

I would go with Asa on the basis that it is actually a name!

Alexander/Alexandra with Lex/i as a nickname is fine.

Easton is a rough area of Bristol Grin How about Plumstead?

Like Lexi/Lexi as short for Alexander/ra

Easton is a bit of a 'dodgy' area of Bristol.

You have the pronunciations correct and Beau is a boy.
We were trying to be different whilst keeping things short
again we have whittled it all down, we had things like River and a few other alternative names but thought they went too far.

If we go down the brissle route, we'll call him St Paul
I like Asa the best, partner not sure, but was thinking of incorporating Raine as a middle name. Obviously if the baby is a boy, his initials would be ART so nickname of Arty maybe, it's so hard. Beau's nickname that all close friends call him, is Timmy, he was called that as a bump. After the beer Timothy Taylor.

Asa - my favourite of your names
Easton - no
Lex - nn
Zane - no

Lexi - don't like this even as a nn
Malia - yes. Love this.
Makaya - no

Not keen on Raine, but it has a good meaning for either ds or dd

You can't really have zane as zane beau sounds like rainbow!

YDdraigGoch · 29/10/2013 13:22

Raine is a girl's name. As is Countess Raine Spencer. You can't call a boy Raine.

You can't really have zane as zane beau sounds like rainbow!

In this basis Raine really needs ruling out too! I like beau. Both my boys have short names that are unusual but not out there iyswim.

When's the baby due?

Sorry, just noticed you're due in one week! How about Hollis? It's unusual and not too long. It means one who lives by a holly bush.

i have an Asa, so that would be my top boy choice :-D

and Lexi for a girl

You can't really have zane as zane beau sounds like rainbow!

  1. nothing wrong with rainbows

  2. no-one refers to children like that!

if anything they'd be referred to as Beau and Zane.

I like Asa and Lex (my own DS is called this but is Alexander on his birth certificate). Not as keen on Lexi for a girl though!!

I like Asa out of all of them, Hollis is ok but think it would get shortened to Holly. Thanks to everyone helping me. If there are any other suggestions keep em coming. Seriously was never this hard when Beau came along
