I suggested it when rolling off lots of girls names.

Dp loves it. I like it.

What do you think?

I quite like it. I know a Lune (pn Lun-uh, Dutch) - lovely name.

I can't think of a surname it would go with.

Luna Smith
Luna MacDuff
Luna Williams
Luna Rover (my favourite)

Nn looney?

I love it, but I'm a huge Harry potter fan

Ah yes Luna lovegood! Thought I had it somewhere else.

I got it from the Disney Pixar short film 'La Luna'. Really beautiful if anyone wants to watch.

We have loved it for years, just waiting for a girl to come along so we can use it! I hope it doesn't become one of those popular, over used names.

Remember Bear in the big blue house? He used to sing to the moon at the end of the day and her name was Luna

My friends dog is Luna

I like it.

However I always think Luna Lampshade when I see/hear the name. If I knew why I'd tell you.

Makes me think lunatic or Harry Potter. I also know a real life Luna and it just doesn't sit right

Bt who cares..if you and DP like it use it!

DH loves it, but I worry about the nickname potential. Looney, lunatic etc.

Report
Somethingpink · 20/10/2013 18:46

Love it we was going to call dd it until we realised that she would probably be nicknamed looney luna Sad

floatyflo · 20/10/2013 19:39

Yes those potential nicknames put me off to be honest.

However I suppose kids can make mean nnames out of most forenames!

I have a very normal name and my friends made some awful names out of it! Practically any name can be turned in to an insult, and if it can't then they'll find something else to mock you for.

Makes me think of loofah.

Beautiful name and it's on our list too. I am so tempted to use it as my company is called For Luna (title of an obscure and much loved song) and so to call my daughter Luna would be fitting Grin

I do worry about the silly nicknames but children will fashion a horrid nickname from anything.

I love it and have started a thread on it before. I know a certain person will come on here soon and rip you to shreds saying you are cruel for even thinking of it! Grin Whatever!!

I think it's just a nice name to say isn't it. Loooonaaaa. It's a nice round, satisfying name IMO.

I think it's awful, has a horrible sound.

Nice name!

When my DC were little, we used to say "Luna" whenever we saw the moon I still do. Blush

I like it. Very clean soft sound but not sure about NNs. Mind you kids will always find silly NNs even from the most trafitional names if they want to.
