Jasper and the twilight connection

Really really struggling with a boys name. We quite like Jasper but if I call him Jasper will everyone think I've named him after a character in Twilight. the real inspiration is that there is a cat in Numberjacks called Jasper but we will ignore that

Sorry the only jaspers I've ever known have been dogs. Mainly spaniels.

Well, that wouldn't occur to me if a child was called Edward, or Bella, or Jake, or Renesmee...oh, wait...

Seriously it's fine, Jasper isn't a major character, I had to think about who he was when I read the post. It's a nice name.

Only by people familiar with Twilight, and there are loads of us who aren't. I think it is a lovely name.

It just makes me think of Jasper Carrot [smil]

So it's not looking too bad for Jasper then. As long as he doesn't grow up to look like a Spaniel we should be ok Grin

I don't know anything about Twilight and suspect thus will be the case for others too.

I think it'd be fine.
I think the only problems with book names are when they're more or less exclusive to it.
i.e - Hermione, Katniss, Renesmee, all seem a bit Hmm while Harry, Johanna, Jasper, I don't think anyone would assume it was a connection..

I have a Jasper and your post is the first I have heard of this connection (I have never seen the films). I love his name, it is unusual but easy to spell and hard to shorten. Everyone we meet always comments on it. It is my opinion quite timeless-infact my ds is named after a 70 year old man.

I have one too, and I've never seen Twilight. We love it and thus far we haven't met another one (part from Florin who obviously has great taste Smile).

????

I love Jasper so much. It's at the top of my hypothetical boys list. Dh isnt keen though. When/where he grew up it was a nickname for wasps so he doesn't like it. Doesn't change how I feel though!

I have read all the twilight books and am quite familiar with all the characters - but that name still reminds me far, far more of jasper carrot!

I really like the name Jasper but don't pick it if you want something unusual as it's getting closer and closer to the top 100 names.

I think I quite like Jasper, and I would never think of Twilight.

I wouldn't worry about that if I were you Grin

My cousin is Jasper, and he is 42, so twilight isn't my first immediate thought!

My first thought when seeing Jasper is "for gods sake DP it is such a great name how can you not like it".

In terms of what I think of? I make the Jasper Tudor link. I appreciate I may be fairly unusual in that though.

We have a Rosalie and only 1 person has commented on it and calls her the Twilight baby. He's a fucking knob normally anyway.

But no one has ever mentioned it.

I haven't read Twilight, have no intention to, but Jasper will always mean "wasp" to me.

I've read the twilight books but struggled to even think of the main characters names, I mean twilight is soooo last year by now!!

I have a nob tosser ex boyfriend called Jasper, that's the only reason I don't like it, lol

I have a Jasper. He's only 2.5 but no one has ever even mentioned the twilight link to me (they might all be saying it behind my back of course).

I love jasper buttttt

Jasper Tudor is fine.

Jasper is the best of the twilight vamps.

In RL and modern life though, jasper is most definitely a spaniel! Sorry.

I have a Jacob and ds2 on the way, several people have suggested Edward for DS2 so obviously twilight can't be that high in people's minds!! (Edward and Jacob are the 2 main male characters in case anyone was wondering!!)
