Love love Aurelia! Stunning name.

From your list; Penelope.

I do like Isadora, however less keen on Dora. Which it could get shorted too.

May I suggested: Ottilie

I love isadora because it could be shortened to Dora :)

Can I ask what your Aurelia gets called?

However not sure how you pronounced DD's name, aw-REEL-yah or Or reel-yah? If the later Ottilie mostly likely a silly suggestion

Hi. Always liked Clara. I like Isadora too. We nearly had Aurelia! DH went lukewarm but I'm glad someone's used it! I am sure you will choose something just as good for new DD

Rosalie
Clara
Seraphine

In that order

Cordelia - not overly keen, plus might get 'cordy'
Isadora - like it. unusual and pretty
Rosalie - quite like it. Prefer Rosa or Rosie
Penelope - don't like this
Seraphine - pretty. Prefer Seraphina
Clara - lovely. Simple and classy
Callista - quite like it.
Clarisse - not sure, I don't think I like it.

I'd choose Clara or Isadora

Thanks for all your replies. I'm loving Isadora but DH needs convincing. Curious, my Aurelia gets shortened to Aurele or Ellie. Daughter love your suggestion of Ottilie

I personally think a stronger ending would be good, Aurelia with an -ie or -a or -ia a bit tongue twisty...

How about something else ending -ine, Coraline, Clementine, Rosaline? Of your suggestions I prefer those with a plosive or other consonant close to the end to negate the effect I describe above, so Seraphine, Penelope, Callista.

Good luck deciding, Aurelia is gorgeous.

Well my friend has an Ariana and is considering Aurelia for dd2!

Penelope I think compliments it best without sounding samey.

Hermione would also go well.

I love Hermione, think it would go really well with Aurelia but DP is obsessed with the HPconnection and has vetoed it Hmm

Nooooooo! It's odd so many people say "Hermione = HP" but nobody says the same about Luna Confused

I like Penelope, Seraphine and Callista. Can I suggest Madeleine.

Again DP hears Madeleine - a name we both like- and thinks Maddie McCann Hmm

Love Aurelia too!!! Is my top name for dd but dh can't 'get his head around it'!! Confused Do you pronounce it with a 'rees' or 'ray'? And how do you pronounce Aurele?

On your list I like Seraphine and Rosalie the most. I think Cordelia is too similar sounding. Like Penelope too!

Others on our short list are Florence, Esme and Felicity. I like Constance too but don't like Connie.

uptonogood we pronounce Aurelia o-re-leah. Aurèle is pronounced with the stress on the 'rèle' as I'm French. I love the name. It's a beautiful alternative to Olivia and Amelia. Starting to like Florence a lot more and have also considered Felicity over the months.

Aurelia is gorgeous. From your list I like Cordelia - but may be too similar in sound to Aurelia. Rosalie is lovely too as are Seraphine, Ottilie and Florence.

What about Cornelia?

(any other old Ecce Romana students about?)

lilstar · 25/09/2013 21:44

I think the best ones are the ones that don't end in an 'a'...Also if u haven't closed your short list yet, I think the name Elise would be great sounding too.

I find some of your suggestions quite heavy and clunky compared to the beautiful Aurelia. Actually any of them with a 'd' in there seem to be particularly clunky!
Seraphine is very pretty, although Seraphina is also lovely. I also think Rosalie is gorgeous.
What about Manon?
Other ideas:
Aurelia and Rosalie
Aurelia and Manon
Aurelia and Elise
Aurelia and Marissa
Aurelia and Francesca
Aurelia and Isobel
Aurelia and Zoe
Aurelia and Liliana
Aurelia and Jessany
Aurelia and Zara
Aurelia and Meribel
Aurelia and Melody
Aurelia and Rafaella
Aurelia and Paloma

Thank you for all your suggestions. rachyconks I do like Claudia but the meaning really puts me off. Florence and Beatrice have appeared on our list now. Never thought naming a second child would be so difficult. kasbah72 Manon is a beautiful name but I think the beauty would be lost when said with an English accent.

Ottilie immediately came to mind - the two names seem to go perfectly together.

Cordielia, Clara and Rosalie are my favorites from your list.

Genevieve.
