I like Florence, Amelia and Phoebe of your list. Have you chosen a middle name?

I vote Phoebe, it's beautiful, shame we've already used it on our cat Grin

Snap!! I am did Monday too... How are you getting on. I love all those names. Think Esme is beautiful. I love Amelia too.. It is very popular, but that doesn't matter either.

I love Amelia. Phoebe just reminds me of Friends (though that isn't a bad thing!), Matilda of the little French girl, Esme is a fortune teller, and Florence is a Great Aunt of my DP.

From your list, I'd probably choose Amelia Florence.

Good luck & congratulations! Smile

David Cameron has a daughter called Florence - does that put you off?

Amelia is lovely but at or near the top of the most popular girls' names.

Esme is the name of the vampire mum in Twilight.

Think I like Phoebe and Matilda best (probably Phoebe best as I don't know any).

Sorry, hope I don't sound too negative - they are all lovely names, just I tend to think of the disadvantages first.

Hope all goes well.

Argh! Was hoping there would be a clear favourite. We have decided to pull a name out of a hat on Monday morning! Will update with outcome!

Amelia Belle (dog or no dog it's a pretty name)

Phoebe Amelia

Matilda, very regal name. Hate Tilly though, so that would put me off a bit.

  1. Matilda
  2. Florence

Strong names with great girlie nns.

Don't like Phoebe. Feeble Phoebe. Plus does not sound good in Northern accents imo.

Amelia is lovely but currently the most popular name I think. I know of 2 plus an Amelie born this year in just a small number of baby producing acquaintances.

Esme will date to now due to Twilight.

Stats for England 2012 here
Amelia 1st 6648
Phoebe 28th 1736
Florence 33rd 1480
Matilda 45th 1253
Esme 65th 888

They're all pretty names, hence why they are so popular I guess, and I think any of them is a lovely choice. Out of them all I would be least likely to choose Amelia due to it being by far the most popular.

My personal preference would be Matilda Florence, but I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
