Benjamin is fine. The others? Well I'm sure you'll get people to say some of them are ok. Bit common, but if you like them.

Jack, lots of them and have heard of girls with the name Taylor but no boys. Maybe it's a regional thing. That apart, like this selection.

We nearly went for Max but yes we wondered if it stood all right as a name by itself and thought perhaps it should be short for something. Maximilian seemed grandiose and Maxwell was a non-starter, it was a puzzle. Maxim?

Of your list I'd go for Leon, Harris, Tobias or Alexander with Xander plus other diminutives available for him to choose to use later.

I feel like your list is all over the place in terms of styles. If you are struggling with styles maybe think if you had a girl in future what sort of girls names you like and that might help? Eg if you prefer something classic like Charlotte and Emily then Tobias and Benjamin go better than Taylor and Xander, if you prefer something more traditional but cute like Daisy and Lily then Max and Jack go quite well, if you like modern American sounding like Leilani and Riley then Taylor and Xander would go etc.

I dislike Connor and Taylor, and Xander seems odd as a first name rather than nickname for Alexander.

My favourites are Leo, Max, Benjamin, Elliot and Jack. I think Max, Benjamin and Jack are pretty popular if that bothers you.

Max could be a name on its own, or short for Maxwell, Maxim, Maximian, Maximus, Maximillian that I can think of.

The others are are very widely used already and a little dull (in my opinion).

Have you looked at the ons list of all names given last year? Perhaps there are some you also like?

I'm puzzled about the reference to styles tbh. The OP is naming her DC, not decorating a room. She's chosen names she likes.

From your list I like Leo (was vetoed by DH), Tobias, Benjamin (I'm bias here!), Max and Elliott.

I like Max, Tobias and Finn. The others I'm not that keen on, especially Leon and Taylor.

I don't like Leon or Xander (ambiguous spelling, why not spell it with a Z if it's said with a Z sound??)

Rest are okay or better. I know a 5yo boy Taylor.

And we've looked over your advice. Less common names we like are Tobias, Simeon, Drake and Adler, and also we like Kit, Isaiah, Conrad and Edward. My dd2 has helpfully chimed in with the suggestion of Tinkerbell

These names are popular for a reason and much much more plateable than, say, Benedict, jeremiah, Cassius etc.

Again, thanks to everyone. Outraged DH likes Finnian, I love Finn or Finley. I am still pushing for it though
