Thoughts on the name for a girl please........?!?!

Onesleeptillwembley Tue 27-Aug-13 15:14:11

Oh that poor child - what an awful, selfish thing to do!

Dollydaydream99 Tue 27-Aug-13 14:54:44

Thanks mumsnetters, perhaps I should have elaborated.... I'm NOT considering it as a name!!!!!!!

A friend of a friend has called her daughter Rogue & I wanted your opinions to see if I was the only who thinks "rogue, wtf?!" smile

SevenReasonsToSmile Tue 27-Aug-13 14:00:41

No, no, no, no and no.
And no again.

I would think that you were an X-Men fan.

And I think it's a terrible name to give to a child.

MrsMongoose Tue 27-Aug-13 05:24:17

Vogue would be miles better!

DalekInAFestiveJumper Tue 27-Aug-13 04:33:29

I've got a friend who's a big comic book fan. All four of her children are named after comic book characters.

Even she would not name her daughter Rogue.

RoadToTuapeka Tue 27-Aug-13 04:18:59

Sorry but I think thats a dreadful name to lump a child with. She will be an adult human sometime not a dog.

Cloudkitten Mon 26-Aug-13 23:42:04

You are joking, right?! I don't care re X Men connotations, I don't watch it so know nothing about it but I would be hmm if I did because it's somewhat tacky to call child a very niche name from a famous TV programme, and hmm as I don't because Rogue is so... Rongue. For ANY CHILD. Please don't do it.

Reading all your comments has made me laugh out loud! I've had a rubbish day, feeling crap and nauseous and this thread has now really cheered me up grin

LoopyLupo Mon 26-Aug-13 21:27:33

My intial thoughts were 'that's a nice name ... for an X man.

pumpkinsweetie Mon 26-Aug-13 21:27:21

grin Rogue Trader, perfect name

sonlypuppyfat Mon 26-Aug-13 21:25:50

Thats the best laugh I've had today, can you imagine a vicar saying it at a baptism!

Onesleeptillwembley Mon 26-Aug-13 21:23:14

Thanks Remus I thought it added that certain something. grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Mon 26-Aug-13 21:04:06

Mardy-Cow with the hyphen is great. Classy.

pooka Mon 26-Aug-13 21:01:23

Sounds like a gladiator. Or an unfriendly woman in a jilly cooper book.

Not positive. I'm not keen. But is not my decision! smile

Floggingmolly Mon 26-Aug-13 20:56:42

Oh go on then; I'll save it for the boy. Nobody would pick on a boy called Gobby, surely?

TSSDNCOP Mon 26-Aug-13 20:52:21

If they NN her Gobby she'll forever be Gobby The House Elf sad

KateCroydon Mon 26-Aug-13 20:50:32

Noooo. Gobshite's cute though - Gobby as a NN?

MichaelBubleBath Mon 26-Aug-13 20:49:01

Am I the only one who thought of Gladiators? blush

When I think of rogue I think of ''the old rogue! what's he done now? grin'' or 'roguish charm', roguish good looks', 'roguish smile'.

TSSDNCOP Mon 26-Aug-13 20:42:48

No but what about

I've only just started reading the Baby Names threads and they all go like this grin
