Thoughts on the name for a girl please........?!?!

CockyFox Mon 26-Aug-13 20:16:19

Like in X-men?

Dollydaydream99 Mon 26-Aug-13 20:17:03

Yes I believe there's one in x-men!

Slainte Mon 26-Aug-13 20:17:08

I think it's a negative sounding name, sorry.

Dollybird86 Mon 26-Aug-13 20:19:16

Hi fellow dolly i love Rogue smile

Humuhumunukunukuapuaa Mon 26-Aug-13 20:19:23

Like the jockey in jilly coopers jump?

squoosh Mon 26-Aug-13 20:19:29

I prefer Wretch.

exexpat Mon 26-Aug-13 20:21:01

Sounds to me like a name for a dog or a racehorse, or possibly a rapper, not for a child.

Phineyj Mon 26-Aug-13 20:21:31

If you call them that you are asking to have the best behaved, most tediously honest and virtuous DC ever! Bit like calling them Chastity or Joy.

AKissIsNotAContract Mon 26-Aug-13 20:21:56

First definition in the dictionary is

An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot Mon 26-Aug-13 20:22:26

Oooh, I like it. We toyed with Logan for a boy (Wolverine)

exexpat Mon 26-Aug-13 20:22:31

Is this definition something you would really want to saddle a child with?

Mumblyboo Mon 26-Aug-13 20:22:44

Horrid. Sorry.

CockyFox Mon 26-Aug-13 20:22:46

I like it but only because I love the x-men films.

WafflyVersatile Mon 26-Aug-13 20:23:39

Sounds like a good plan then, phineyj!

I actually quite like it, for a girl. confused

MorrisZapp Mon 26-Aug-13 20:23:39

You can't do it. It is awful.

Bowlersarm Mon 26-Aug-13 20:23:49

Maybe spell it differently. It does have a nice sound but not a nice meaning. You may as well call her:

Faverolles Mon 26-Aug-13 20:24:10

Featherbag Mon 26-Aug-13 20:24:47

Sorry, can't stand it. Doesn't pass the 'QC test' for me (as in, can you imagine your child's name being read out on national news as the lead counsel for the defence, QC Rogue Smith) and it really does instantly conjure up Anna Paquin in X-Men.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Mon 26-Aug-13 20:26:03

Scallywag as mn perhaps?

exexpat Mon 26-Aug-13 20:26:15

I guess it might appeal to the small minority of people who know the comic book character, but I have never heard of her, and neither will most people your child encounters - but all the English speakers will know the usual meaning of rogue, and will wonder what kind of parents would call their poor child that.

WafflyVersatile Mon 26-Aug-13 20:26:27

My name means joy so obviously everyone thinks I am one.

Stands to reason. Like star signs.

Smartiepants79 Mon 26-Aug-13 20:26:40

Please do not spell it differently. That would make it even worse.
It's a comic book character.
Think it's a bit silly.

SmallBee Mon 26-Aug-13 20:27:36

I'm not a fan of it, ignoring the negative connotations above, frankly the character in the X-Men is really annoying! If you're going with X-Men I prefer Storm.
