Out of interest.

Sunny, who are you - Katie Hopkins wannabe, perchance? A lot of hard working, thoroughly decent people live in social housing; good neighbours and well-kept homes are not just the preserve of home-owners.

Chav. Bling. Nothing good.

It's a boy's name! Paris and Helen!

Persis - I found this on a woman way back in my family tree. There's an Indian actress named Persis Khambatta, most well known for having been in the first Star Trek movie in 1979. It's a Biblical Greek name.

Pallas - Another Greek name. This was the name of a minor Greek goddess. Athena accidentally killed her and then took her name to honour her. I associate this with the Gustav Klimt painting, Pallas Athena.

thatwasadaftidea Sun 18-Aug-13 23:00:46

I always think of the golden apple and how Aphrodite tempted Paris and Helen.

I quite love it as a boys name, as a girls I just think of Hilton shudder

It says love to me. But that's because it's the name of my friend's longed-for child. The adoption was formalised last week. He has had some nobby comments about her name. From nobs. She is beautiful and amazing and that includes her name.

i agree thornrose.
we're two professionals with a 50% share is a housing association property.

Ugh, horrible comment hmm

Vienna is lovely, I agree. Or Venice or Verona. I met a baby Verona and she was adorable.

I taught a girl called Paris some years ago. She was a lovely child and her family were definitely not at all chav.

It's a boy's name and when used as a girl's name, it suggests the Hilton woman.

I love Eris but isn't she the goddess of chaos? could be cursing yourself.
Iris is a bit dull
Isis was nice before it was a website on sleep
Artemis is okay I guess
Ignis I don't personally like the sound
Paris is ok for a boy but negative associations for a girl

'Pari' and 'Parisa' are Persian names you could consider if it's the 'Pa-' you like. They are unrelated to 'Paris'. A pari or peri is a sort of fairy.

Yika Thu 15-Aug-13 20:17:34

Artemis is lovely but possibly a bit pretentious.
Iris is nice.

What about Maris?

I met a Tordis the other day (Norwegian). I think Nordic could be the way to go if you like the hard ending of -is or -it.
