i love my husband, he is fab BUT soooo many vetoed many GOOD vetoed names...... it is really starting to get my goat. When our DD was born i went with his choice as he loved it and as i didn't have a strong feeling for a name i felt it proper that we have one that one of us adored. I have grown to LOVE the name too

BUT this makes him think that actually he is the best 'namer' and anything I choose is horrible. I have a girls name that i adore and have done forever but had forgotten i liked so much. I am determined that DD should have this name as he has no def thoughts either way.

A friend of mine has just had a baby and very nearly used the name i love and when the relief set in that she hadn't used it after all i realised that it IS the one i want. Everybody else likes the name, its not unique or terribly unusual and won't cause teasing or anything but last night when i expressed my relief that the name was up for grabs still he said there is no way he will call a baby that and he will call her something different.....

i am thinking divorce........ wink

Ha! My DH vetoed ALL my names. He pushed for one particular name all the way through only to suddenly realise it wasn't right at the end, so we had to go for a compromise ...

Write a list including vetoed ones and get him to do the same. It's easy to veto in isolation but seeing names against each other is different. Maybe each of you choose your favourite and least favourite 3 of each others. And maybe you'll have an overlap!

At the point DS1 was a week overdue DH had still not found a single boys name he didn't dislike intensely. The only one he came close to agreeing to he put into google with our surname "just to check, as that's what our son will do when he's bigger" and lo and behold, the one possibility when combined with our surname turned out to be a hardcore porn star! So that got struck off too...

In the end he made an excel spreadsheet of every single name registered in the uk the previous year and delete those he didn't like... and ended up with 3.

So when DS finally arrived, I just started calling him by my favourite of the 3, and obviously the midwives followed suit so then he felt obliged to agree...
