Which do you prefer for a girl?

Tuesday - love this name; wanted it for DD2 but her dad wouldn't agree hmm

Dudley Moore's wife is/was called Tuesday.

Personally I have no issue with calling a child Tuesday if they weren't born on that day - Dd2 would have been Tuesday May - born on a Friday in March! Instead of which, she is her father's choice of a hyphenated -ie ending plus 'filler' name confused

Thursday Next. Jasper Fforde has a lot to answer for grin

What would either be shortened to? As Wednesday is a long name!

Layl77 Sat 27-Jul-13 20:12:39

Wendy for short?

I think if my name was either Tuesday or Wednesday I'd be counting down the days until I was legally allowed to change it....

My guess is your daughter would rather go by her middle name if you inflicted a weekday name upon her - unless that was weird too, lol.

Just my thoughts smile

Hah, the other kids might shorten Tuesday to Too. Then, whenever they arranged something between them, they'd say "Are you coming, too?" She'd be the most popular girl in the school grin

As much as I love Wednesday Addams, I couldn't name my child Wednesday, or any day of the week for that matter.
It causes confusion at school with a child with a name of a month / season. (personal experience).
Though Wendy is nice.

Thursday Next!

I prefer Tuesday.

rosyryan Sun 28-Jul-13 11:33:43

I love Wednesday Addams but I just couldn't do it to a child.

Tuesday is just daft.

invicta Sun 28-Jul-13 11:37:03

Neither !

MinnieBar Sun 28-Jul-13 11:37:45

Do you already have a boy called Friday?

pinktransit Sun 28-Jul-13 12:25:42

I had Tuesday on my list for my daughters.
When I've mentioned it they have looked at me as if I was completely mad sad

I still like it though. I also liked Mercedes, and that meets with the same reaction.

I think it would be quite a cool name.

I thought Thursday Next too! But of your choices Tuesday is best.

ShadowMeltingInTheSun Sun 28-Jul-13 19:27:30

Because Wednesday's child is full of woe in the nursery rhyme.

Rhubarbgarden Sun 28-Jul-13 22:38:42

Both are rather silly imo.

curlew Sun 28-Jul-13 22:42:57

Or you could call your child an actual name?

WideScreenViper Sun 28-Jul-13 22:52:37

No, teenagers would shorten Tuesday to "C U".

I imagine it would get a bit annoying in working life, arranging appointments etc.

Wednesday is a stand out name, not easily shortened " Weds/ Wezza" does not sound good as possibles, though.

There are about a trillion beautiful baby girl names, not sure these are up there.
