Not sure how I feel about using my boys name, George, if Kate and William use it. Am I being stupid or would this put you off? Not due until December so is it a big deal??

David would be great after George 6th

Hey there's nowt wrong with Ethelred... grin

HorryIsUpduffed Mon 22-Jul-13 21:30:17

It was abdicating Edward who was known as David... not good history on that!

soontobeslendergirl Mon 22-Jul-13 21:30:22

Ha Ha - neither there is grin

I think he'll be called Henry after his brother Prince Harry (who is actually a Henry).

The 2 brothers are very close.

Amongst the other names I would expect William, Charles, Philip and Michael.

LazyMonkeyButler Mon 22-Jul-13 21:36:42

I think Albert nn Albie or Alfred nn Alfie.

Middle names are almost pre-picked for them I would think - probably featuring Philip & Charles.

Zynzong Mon 22-Jul-13 21:46:42

Frederick, Richard or david

thegreylady Mon 22-Jul-13 22:16:37

You are right Ed the eighth was David George V1 was Bertie so presumably Albert.

LucyLastik Mon 22-Jul-13 22:19:59

In expecting Spencer in there somewhere

Bowlersarm Mon 22-Jul-13 22:25:14

lostinindia allegedly, Prince Charles has shown a preference of becoming King George vii when he becomes King. He is able to chose , Charles' have not got a great history as kings and he wants to honour his grandfather/great grandfather, or something along those lines.

Although I suppose just because he becomes King George it doesn't mean that his grandson couldn't be a George as well.

fatfingers Mon 22-Jul-13 22:27:55

Surely we can't have a Prince Albert though? Not given the modern meaning of the phrase!

Zynzong Mon 22-Jul-13 22:28:15

it'd be confusing though. prince Charles is king George. Prince George would still be Prince George. or Duke George. ?? but still George.

Richard is a good solicd name that is very unfashionable at the moment. so I reckon it will be Richard.

Chubfuddler Mon 22-Jul-13 22:29:13

Charles won't ever be king so that doesn't matter.

WetAugust Mon 22-Jul-13 22:32:05

Can you explain please Chub?

Chubfuddler Mon 22-Jul-13 22:36:39

I would think it more than possible he will die before his mother.

HorryIsUpduffed Mon 22-Jul-13 22:42:34

The Queen Mother was over 100 when she died but the DofE is 92. I don't think longevity is a problem here. Particularly since the Prince of Wales is so obsessed with organic farming etc.

Bowlersarm Mon 22-Jul-13 22:44:12

Wouldn't count on it Chub, although would say he looks about the same age as his mother.

Zynzong Mon 22-Jul-13 22:44:19

I dont' think the queen will still be alive in two years. Jmo. I think prince Philip will go first. Charles could be king in the next two or three years. Just my prediction.

Unfortunately I think we will have to suffer a King Charles sad

Depending on his performance he may well be the last monarch.

I still cannot stomach Queen Camilla angry

LadyHarrietdeSpook Mon 22-Jul-13 22:53:56

It's not going to be David! That is the name the king who abdicated went by.

GermanGirlinLDN Mon 22-Jul-13 22:56:39

I don't mind if they call it George.

WetAugust Mon 22-Jul-13 22:58:27

Here's some I also think will be ruled out:

Andrew or Edward - would been seen as favouring an uncle

Albert -for obvious reasons

James - too associated with Scotland in the run up to the vote on independence

Richard - too many 'dick' jokes

William or Charles - as they already exist

Only leaves Alfred, Frederick, Henry or George

mrspaddy Mon 22-Jul-13 22:59:34

Hi OP.. go with George if you like it and even if they use it.. what harm? We are going for Mary and would have used it if they had a girl Mary as we have special reasons for doing so.

I don't think they will go for George though.
