I have a 4 year old DS, ever since we told him we we're expecting at the first scan he has been adamant he wants to call the baby Sid or Peaches (a huge Ice Age fan!).

I am now 38 weeks pregnant and we cannot decide on a middle name if bump is a girl. Think it would be quite nice to use DS idea to keep him involved but not sure if im keen on using Peaches.

I like unusual names but not 'silly' names and cant decide which it is.

What are peoples opinions on the name Peaches for a middle name?

No. Too silly.

I like it Smile
But then I like that type of name.

Cute
Slight danger of it sounding like a quotemarks name
Eg Peter "Danger" Jones
Imogen "peaches" Banks
But I think it's lovely.

I Like the sound of peaches, but it really has to go with whatever your chosen first name is. I would even consider it for a first name in the future.

Examples:

Elizabeth Peaches- No
Iona Peaches- No
Miriam Peaches- No

Isobel Peaches- Maybe
Hannah Peaches- Maybe

Angelica Peaches- Lovely
Jessica Peaches- Lovely

My sister has Peaches as a middle name and we often all her Peach as a nn. It really suits her and flows nicely after her more traditional first name.
Id say go for it, ive always been a little envious of her name!

Angelica Peaches is atrocious!

Well I wouldn't consider it as a first name but as middle names are rarely used then I see no reason not to.

Angelica Peaches is lovely. How very dare you.

Love it, I'm a great fan of adventurous middle names

It's definitely silly IMHO.

It's fine.

Sorry but it reminds me of a 70's porno called Pretty Peaches - the main 'character' was called Peaches. How do I know this - because I was extremely nosey and discovered it when snooping in my parents room when they'd gone out one night (I was about 15)

It's a middle name, it's fine. Middle names should always have a story behind them IMO. You won't be shouting it across the playground. Go for it.

I know someone who let their son pick a middle name for his new sister and she got Twinkle. He was 4 as well.

I like it as a middle name. But you could always go for Cyd/Cydney as an alternative?

I think it's a bit daft, but as middle names rarely get an outing apart from on a passport form, I don't think it really matters what the middle name is.

It's daft, but you have carte blanche to be daft with middle names.

Question. Why is is plural? Why Peaches? Why not Peach? You wouldn't call a child Apples or Bananas? How many peaches, exactly...? Hmm

This has bugged me ever since Paula Yates lowered it into our consciousness... I accept I am probably alone in this.

Divided opinion then!!

It wouldn't be a name I would particularly choose however I agree with Ham69 that middle names should have some story/meaning behind them and rather then just choosing a random name I think it would be nice to go with the name my son has chosen. It will give him a sense of importance and involvement

I don't know why its plural, my son got it from Ice Age rather then Peaches Geldof reference.

If I went with Peach it wouldn't mean anything to him.

Hopefully if we do use it DC2 will be an Ice Age fan too, otherwise explaining that shes named after a wooly mammoth may be an awkward conversation!!

Go for it, I think is lovely to let DS choose her middle name, & Peaches isn't really that out there!

Think will put it on our middle name list too, I really like it x

I'd assume you really wanted to be a bit different and quirky but didn't have much in the way of imagination so instead decided to copy Bob Geldof who is famed for giving his kids odd and quirky names.

Sorry.
