Had decided on Hector, but having the usual wobbles.

Arthur is my DS2's middle name, so not sure it's usable and DS1 is called Finn; not sure if Finn and Felix are too much.

Thoughts on all the above names please!

Felix & hector are fab & go great with Finn.
Also like Gabriel & victor

Love Arthur and Hector - what wobbles? Don't wobble! The fact Arthur is DS1's middle name would deter me I think. But both names are fabulous and I don't think will date.

Not keen on Felix or Arlo, as I think these will date, and not sure about Otto, sorry.

So a big vote for Hector from me.

Felix is a cat food and very popular where I live
Hector is Ok
Arthur is lovely
Otto is a James Bond villain but I love it.
Arlo sounds like Harlow in Essex, not a place I like very much (Essex girl).

How about:

Hector is fab, lovely strong name! Love itsmile

Trouble with Arlo and indeed Orla (that spelling) is that they are anagrams of something else and teenagers (possibly younger these days) will pick up on and tease about.

This was pointed out to me by my very usually very pleasant teenage brother.

Felix - love
Hector - hate (don't like the idea of hectoring and also know a really precocious bratty one)
Arthur - love
Otto - dislike
Arlo - really liked before MN pointed out the 'Arlow thing!

Alisvolatpropiis Sat 20-Jul-13 23:07:31

Arthur by far

Hector is a brilliant name, love it!

Happymum22 Tue 16-Jul-13 14:32:54

Felix- the cat
Hector- Quite nice
Arthur- OK
Otto- no way, imagine your son aged 30 named Otto...
Arlo- No

..Maybe just have different name taste! Go with what you like.

bassingtonffrench Tue 16-Jul-13 13:36:11

yes Ralph is fab

BNmum Tue 16-Jul-13 13:22:19

I like Hector & Arlo the best from your list. I also love Rollo which someone else suggested.

What about Bertie (Albert or Bertram) - one of my faves
Algie (Algernon)

bassingtonffrench Tue 16-Jul-13 13:02:27

ooh, I love Clement!

What are the 'usual' wobbles about hector? too unusual?

in which case that would also apply to Otto and Arlo (though not in some areas it would seem!)

pygmy Tue 16-Jul-13 09:45:53

Sorry, not keen on any of those suggestions. I'm really not enjoying this naming business.

Oh we've never met another, and we are in no way 'try hard' people...or middle class media types...we just really liked the name.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff Mon 15-Jul-13 19:15:28

Arlo is my DS's name and I LOVE it.
It's a brilliant name grin

For DC3 we are considering (In no particular order):

Clement (Clem)

I'm not worried about the H being dropped in Hector as there are tonnes of Harrys here and I've never heard them being called 'arry.
