So dd came as a complete surprise as was expecting a boy. Struggling with names and being harassed by everyone to come up with something NOW. Im hormonal and weepy and feeling quite low after the birth.

So we have come up with Florence or Emilia (lifetime of saying no it's with an 'e'?) Siblings are kitty and oliver. Do they go together? We like more traditional names, especially for girls I think. Have trawled the names books but are stuck. Any suggestions apart from telling people to sod off?

I think Florence goes nicely with your other two. I assume you've discounted Charlotte ?

How about Amy or Emma? Or Emmeline? Emily? all go nicely with Kitty & Oliver

What about Grace or Clementine

Kitty, Oliver and Florence sound great together.
Others in a similar style that might work:
Kitty, Oliver and Frances
Kitty, Oliver and Rosemary
Kitty, Oliver and Sadie
Kitty, Oliver and Maggie/Margaret
Kitty, Oliver and Helena

Thank you for the comments. Yes I had considered Charlotte but dh not keen and I'm not overreen on shortened version. Can't use Emma/Emily as already have those in family (with same surname).
Do like Grace though and that has been on our previous two lists.
Trouble is I'm not really sure what she looks like, people always say babies come with their names so why do we find it so hard?

I have long had Florence picked for my lo due in 2 weeks. It goes with your other names but has shot up to top 15 in the charts so I'm not sure if this is an issue for you. I don't know any others but recent posts suggest there are tons recently!

I like Sadie too & Emilia-how about Emiliana for a little different. Or Marjorie, Elizabeth, Georgia, Primrose, Daisy, Jenna are all others I like.

Congratulations & good luck! It's hard when you feel pushed to decide so take your time & report back please when you decide x

Love Florence and I think it goes really well with your other children's names. You still have time yet, how about calling her Florence for a couple of days and see how it feels, you can always go with something else if you decide it's not the one.

Florence is lovely, but you don't sound totally convinced!

How about Josephine? Traditional, lovely, short form Jojo is great, short form Posy is similar in feel to Kitty?

Don't be pressured!

Both nice names.

Emmeline?

I do like Florence, it has been my name of choice through pregnancy, though dh hasn't been overkeen though can't come up with anything better.

Just had a few Hmm faces when I've mentioned it today to family. It's not overly popular round here (checked with midwife today!) though as ds name has been top 5 for years that doesn't bother me so much.

We asked the children which they preferred and they also said Florence. I think we will try it out for a few days and see if it suits her.

Hope you feel better very soon and the Hmm faced family members can jolly well lump whatever name you bestow on DD.

I was going to suggest Beatrice or Nancy but see you are going to try Florence which is lovely. Grace too is sweet and works well with Kitty and Oliver.

Great idea to try Florence at home and see how she suits it Flowers

Yes-my whole family did that face at Florence but I think they'd do that at anything!

Try it for few days & see-you can change it later-my friend called her child one thing for over a month then came home from the registry office & changed it at the last minute before signing!

Why not the more usual spelling Amelia? I think that is lovely and less likely for confusion than Emilia.

I'm not a fan of Florence, but people do have different tastes and you and the dc like it. You need to get dh to make a decision, either rule it out if he really doesn't like it or for him to agree to it as well. It sounds like his lack of decisiveness is holding you back from Florence. If you are going to try it out for a few days, insist that he makes a decision that he can stand by.

Good luck Brew

Congratulations! I adore the name Kitty. Florence goes well with both Kitty & Oliver - would you use the full name or a nn? Not sure what Florence can be shortened to other than Flo.

Other suggestions; Stella? Anya?
