Which spelling. She would be known as Milly/Millie to the family.

I personally love Emilie, but I feel the majority on here will prefer Emily!

Millie is one of my favourite names.

VBisme Sun 23-Jun-13 19:07:38

Emily, I misread Emilie as Emile, and would assume a boy.

toffeelolly Sun 23-Jun-13 19:08:53

Emile love it. Millie is also one of my favorite nameswink

MolotovCocktail Sun 23-Jun-13 19:10:17

Emily, as Emilie looks too much like Emile.

curlew Sun 23-Jun-13 19:10:27

Why on earth would you spell a name in a way that will mean she will have to correct people all her life? Everyone will assume Emily.

If you want to call her Milly use that, or Millicent, with the nn Milly.

But I do like Emily, Milly, , and Millicent.

Emilie, i love French names! Emilie is DD's best friend but i have to prounounce it Emeeeeeeleeeeeee otherwise DD tells me off for being an embarrasing foreigner.

CPtart Sun 23-Jun-13 19:15:26

Millie is one of my most hated names....but Emily is lovely.

Scruffey Sun 23-Jun-13 19:17:04

Emilie is French. Assuming you are not French/in France, use Emily.

Ihatepeas Sun 23-Jun-13 19:17:58

Emily. She will be forever correcting people otherwise.
Gorgeous name.. love it shortened to Milly!

Alisvolatpropiis Sun 23-Jun-13 19:31:33

Makes life easier to go with the standard spelling of the country you live in.

cupcake78 Sun 23-Jun-13 19:39:46

Well that's fairly unanimous grin. Thank you

BumbleBee2011 Sun 23-Jun-13 19:40:51

I'd use Emilie but my family are French (I'm therefore used to having to explain/spell out my own name all the time too) fact that was our main contender for DD2 but DH's cousin had an Amelia a few months ahead of us and we thought that would be too close.

Bluestocking Sun 23-Jun-13 19:45:02

Emily, unless you live in a Francophone country. And why shorten it to Milly? Emily is a much nicer name!

RaRaZ Tue 25-Jun-13 17:24:34

Emily - but if you want to call her Milly, why not just call her Milly and not have the 'formal' name of Emily? ...though, like a couple of others, I prefer Emily anyway.

exoticfruits Tue 25-Jun-13 17:37:25

Emily- if you live in UK.

DorisIsWaiting Tue 25-Jun-13 17:39:25

I have an Emily nn Milly I'm obviously biased but really dislike your alternative spelling.

acheekyvimto Tue 25-Jun-13 22:45:24

Another with an Emily. She has no problem with people spelling her name.

I'm glad I took leave of my senses, my 21 year old self wanted to call her Emmie- Leigh.

Emilie looks too much like the (less commonly used) boys name Emile.

cupcake78 Wed 26-Jun-13 02:59:31

I think it might be Emily then grin
