For my imaginary dc2... What do you think?

FamiliesShareGerms Tue 21-May-13 17:56:54

Why not?

poppydaisy Tue 21-May-13 18:27:31

Reminds me of gusset... Is it a name?

gymboywalton Tue 21-May-13 18:28:08

graet as a shortening of angus
as a stand alone name...no

SalagadooLamagicaboo Tue 21-May-13 18:28:44

Reminds me of the little fat mouse in Cinderella smile

It was a very cute mouse if you ask smile

Timetoask Tue 21-May-13 18:29:42

love it!

BedHog Tue 21-May-13 18:33:24

Reminds me of gusset too. As described in cheap chicklit - 'his tanned fingers deftly pushed aside her moist gusset and explored the wonders beneath' etc <boak>

DreamsTurnToGoldDust Tue 21-May-13 18:33:30

Reminds me of Gus Honeybun grin

FamiliesShareGerms Tue 21-May-13 18:40:47

Ooh, blast from the past there Dreams!

hellohellohihi Tue 21-May-13 19:02:09

Ha ha to gusset! That chick lit passage made me chuckle.

Yes I think as a stand alone name. We're not Scottish so would feel weird using angus. The full version that springs to mind is augustus which I'm not too keen on.

Just a thought, don't think it'll make the short list...

DreamsTurnToGoldDust Tue 21-May-13 19:10:40

I`m glad someone else remembers Gus Honeybun, birthday bumps anyone?

Op, I actually really like Gus smile

ZolaBuddleia Tue 21-May-13 19:36:14

Love it, dislike Angus.

MortifiedAdams Tue 21-May-13 19:39:01

I love Gus and have it on my too-scared-to-use boys list alongside Griff, Fox and Sid.

Foosyerdoos Tue 21-May-13 19:41:03

I love Gus, would be short for Augustus. Always reminds me of Gussie Fink-Nottle from Jeeves and Wooster.

OrlaKiely Tue 21-May-13 19:41:46

No....I'm sorry, I cannot like it.

NorksAreMessy Tue 21-May-13 19:46:13

Gustav?
Angus?
Augustus?

but mainly LOVING the appearance of the Fink-Nottle on a baby names thread smile

captainmummy Tue 21-May-13 19:47:53

Short for Augustus? My ski-ing instructor (get me!) in Bulgaria was called Augustan, would NOT let us shorten to Gus, as that means Arse in Bulgarian.grin

LalyRawr Tue 21-May-13 19:48:33

Always think of the little fat mouse in Cinderella.

Sorry blush

OrlaKiely Tue 21-May-13 19:56:42

I know a little Gustav. Very sweet - but not shortened to Gus.

PenelopePortrait Tue 21-May-13 19:58:26

We had a Gus at school, he got called Gus the gorilla. He wasn't a very pleasant chap either.

perplexedpirate Tue 21-May-13 20:02:28

Oh, I was besotted with a boy called Gus in my distant youth!
He was cool. Go for it.

bex2011 Tue 21-May-13 20:05:43

Great name but I would say that as I have a gorgeous Gus.

MotheringShites Tue 21-May-13 21:32:08

Magnus? Fergus?

AllegraLilac Tue 21-May-13 23:10:09
