Baby names

2 syllable girl names, needing some inspiration

I like shorter names. 2 syllables. I prefer vowels to excessive consonants.

I love simple Anna but can't use it. Or Hanna. Both ruled out.

I quite like Thea but is doesnt go with our last name and also I would like a name that is easy for different cultures to pronounce and can transfer easily if we move abroad. So I've ruled it out.

I quite like Honor but I worry about the American spelling and I dislike Honour. What do you think of Honor?

I like Minna but worry about the use of 'Minnie' as a nickname for girls parts. Would you think of that?

I like Mila and Layla and Leila and Lilla and Lyla but don't think I can do them as they seem overdone and IMO merge into one. So you think Lola falls into this same category of overuse or do you think it is different enough?

Do you think Lora would work? And is Cora too trendy what with Downtown?

Other similar names welcome!

Honor is very nice, and I don't think the American spelling matters. Lora is nice but I think people would spell it Laura (which is a lovely name) and you'd need to keep correcting them.

I think Lora would be constantly mistaken for Laura or Lorna but you may not mind that.

I like Lola but not Minna/Minnie. Not a bit Honor fan but I like Blythe or Faith of those types of names.

How about:
Lucy
Liza
Orla
Lara
Irma
Niree/Nyree
Mary

I think Cora is sweet.

Lora might be a lifetime of correcting the spelling.

To my mind Lola falls into the popular Lila/Leila category though tbh I can only count the number of girls I have met called Layla or Lola on one hand.

Likewise Daisy and Poppy, they get suggested on MN but in rl I have only met one Daisy and never a Poppy.

What about Rosa? Or Nola or Willa?

Lois?

Isn't the name Honor always spelled that way, as opposed to it being the American way of spelling 'honour'?

I like Honor.
Cora is nice, and I see a few suggestions of Cara, but caution. We used it for DD a while ago thinking it wasn't too popular and now it is everywhere. I suspect she will not be the only one in her class ever. Sigh.

More suggestions: Helen, Dinah, Zola, Sara, Etta, Ellen, Carmen, April, Joanne, Luna, Bethan, Megan, Susan, Hester, Stella, Seren

Thanks for all the responses.

I agree Lora looks incorrect and will be problematic. I have to see if the spelling if Laura grows on me as I do like the sound of the name.

I think Honor is at the top of my list and I'm glad others agree that it isn't too American.

I have also added Molly and rosa to my list.

I also thought of Ola (which is a name as I googled it) as I don't like Nola or Orla but I do like Ola.

I love Willa, whoever suggested it but I think there are too many wills and Williams out there toI use it. Also I think people would mix it up with the more popular willow that I don't like very much. Willa is a name I have loved for years so I was very disappointed that William has become so popular. I would love to sneak it in as a middle name maybe.

I find girl names so difficult. Dh and I have already got a short list of boys names which I love, but our girl names conversation goes nowhere which is why I'm determined to work out a list of names I like to discuss.

I also thought of zanna. Any thoughts on Ola and zanna?

Not keen on either of them, although I love Rosa. Fuchsia?
