I don't think either is particularly lovely but Bertram is much better than Bertrand.

Why is everyone suddenly going for names of old men down the pub - Wilf, Stan, Bert etc? They don't sound like classics to me like William, Henry, Joseph etc just old.

I bet if you had asked about names like these a couple of years ago/in a couple of years time most people would say don't do it. Perhaps I'm wrong - I hope so for all these little lads who sound like old men already.

The question wasn't 'tell me what you think of these names', but 'which name'. Rude.

FWIW, I like Bertram, OP.

Bertram maybe has a little edge with me, as it feels a little less fussy and doesn't have the risk of 'randy' as a nn. Although the link to Bertrand Russell is also cool.

Ignore the haters, I think both are fab!

Please imagine either of those names being called out on the register on the first day of secondary school. Even worse, he might even have to wear a stick on name badge.

I love both these names! Bertram slightly tops Bertrand. Great taste!
