Thoughts?
How would you pronounce it on first glance?
(For a girl)

Lovely, I know a Romy, pronounced row-me

jennybeadle Sun 14-Apr-13 14:33:17

Lovely.

I know an adult one and she is sweet and gorgeous. I've heard it pronounced both row-me and ro-me but mainly somewhere in between.

usualsuspect Sun 14-Apr-13 14:34:11

Love it.

ZolaBuddleia Sun 14-Apr-13 14:36:36

I love it, also Romilly.

wigglesrock Sun 14-Apr-13 14:36:50

I love it, but I would say Romy to rhyme with Bomby ifyswim. Although I have just asked my husband and sister and have been told "No, no and thrice no it's Row me"

noblegiraffe Sun 14-Apr-13 14:45:30

Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion springs to mind. That's how I know how to pronounce it!

Quak Sun 14-Apr-13 14:50:59

It was on my shortlist (but not DH's)
It's a cool name indeed. smile

That's the rhyme I was looking for Tommy, makes much more sense than bomby blush

Yika Sun 14-Apr-13 15:08:22

Lovely name, I pronounce it to rhyme with tommy. I much prefer it to
Romilly.

clemonmeringuepie Sun 14-Apr-13 16:26:07

I would have had that name but dh did not like - but we would have pronounced it Row (a boat, not argue) - mee.

When I joined mn my first username was Romy7. Within minutes of my first post, I had a message from an mner asking if she knew me in rl.

I was totally freaked grin

It is a bit more common now!

Row.Me.

We were out today and heard a father call after a little girl- 'Romily' which sounded lovely.

fussychica Sun 14-Apr-13 16:33:00

Nice but prefer Romilly which is lovely.

Goldensunnydays81 Sun 14-Apr-13 17:56:38

I love it! I also know a Roma which I think is very lovely too!

barbben Sun 14-Apr-13 18:28:43

i love it!

Thirstysomething Mon 15-Apr-13 16:47:17

It is on our shortlist - I knew one as a child who pronounced it Row-me (to rhyme with sew, not wow!). It was originally a nn for Rosemary I think?

BarbieDahl Mon 15-Apr-13 16:50:55

Row me. Love it

BarbieDahl Mon 15-Apr-13 16:53:25

Reminds me of Romy Schneider - a german/austrian/french actress. I think her full name was Rosemarie

Gorjuss Mon 15-Apr-13 16:57:46

I have a Romy so yes of course I love it. She gets called Romany sometimes which can be annoying x

KittenOfDoom Mon 15-Apr-13 23:11:15

It's Roh-me, to rhyme with foamy.
If it was meant to rhyme with Tommy it would have 2 m's.

nooka Tue 16-Apr-13 03:39:39

I know a grown up and rather formidable Romy (Roh-me). I think I'd like it more as a shortening for a longer name, but that's just because I like names with options.

SkinnyLove Tue 16-Apr-13 03:48:16

Romy is a great name. How about michelle for a middle name?!
